Dude is such a genius. Their music is just so far beyond what people realize. When The World Ends is such a great song and the line “when the world is, we’ll be burning one” 😆 should have been a single.

Ultra talented and extremely smart. The band has been awesome since they came out. That’s why 30 years later they are still selling out shows all over the world in the summer months. It seems like tours have been set up to make sure his wife and kids can be on the road with him. Adding Tim Reynolds to the main band after years of Dave and Tim was absolutely awesome to see.

He’s as intelligent, humble and compassionate as he is talented. I feel so fortunate to have witnessed them play at the Blind Pig in 1994. We all felt a sort of shift in reality after listening to them play, it was surreal. I haven’t experienced a live performance like it ever since. I think Dave Matthew’s voice has a lot to do with that incredible energy.

#41 and Grey Street could turn any non-fan into a fanatic, especially if you see them play those live. Those two songs are as perfect as a song can get - and both beautiful enough for an extended live jam that you could listen to for 20 minutes and wished it went on forever.

TOTALLY AGREE!! It is MY FaVoRiTe song, EvAh. I became disabled & needed to use a cane (yuk) or walking stick. I bought a craggy stick & decided, since it was going to shows w/me that I'd put DMB stickers on it. 1st, Dancing Nancy, 2nd, cross signs Grey Street/At The End of The World. It will be with me again in Camden, last time was NYC Madison Square Garden for my birthday, Nov 2021😅. CAN'T WAIT TIL JULY!! Blessings.

True story- 1997 went with friends to DMB in Hartford CT, not a huge fan myself but always up for a a gig. My best friend proceeded to get hammered and she was laying flat on the ground. Worried about her, I was sitting next to her talking. All she could say was ‘did they play TOO MUCH?’ I yelled back at her, “they’ve been playing 4 hours!!!” Didn’t know it was the name of one of their songs 😂😂😂 Great show, still longest one I’ve ever been to until this day.

Similar story: First time I saw Dave more than 25 years ago was with my brother and his girlfriend. Dave started singing, and I said, "Oh I love this song! What's it called?" Lisa said, "It's the Song that Jane Likes." "OK," I responded, "but what's the name of it?" A true "who's on first moment!" When my brother passed away last year, we put the lyrics to Bartender on his funeral card.

His breakdown on satellite is so confirming to what I noticed as a guitar player singer. Because I been doing it for 18 years and I still can't sing and play most of Dave's songs simultaneously. He's easily top 3 most hard to play and sing at the same time music. This is why he's so underrated As a guitarist imo

I'm not sure because I can play satellite among and sing it decently (among other Matthews songs) but I can't do a lot of Mayer. But maybe I'm bottled necked by my vocal range as I have to put some concerted effort with Mayer whereas Dave's range is within mine without too much effort if that makes sense?

Grey Street was the song that came out the first time I fell in love, fall of '02, and it was my favorite song back then and I cannot think of another song that describes my life. There is a great recording out there of Dave playing at a Frat house playing the music to Satellite but with completely different lyrics. Its called After Her. Not only is the band enormously talented with profound music, they also represent a much simpler time. They represent an entire era of live music that is cherished by those who got to experience it.

He's an amazing mind for music. Just hated having Leroi and Boyd falling away over the years. Amazing band for the first 20 years.

I agree. Having lived in VA for 35+ years we used to go see them all the time before the world knew who they were. Just not the same without Leroi and Boyd.

Really really great video. I’m not a fan of his music but clearly he touches and adds bits of meaning to a lot of peoples lives and he’s brilliant at what he does. Really thoughtful. His music will last. Mostly though I’ll always be thankful to him for signing M.Doughty’s first solo album.

I’m glad to have been running a restaurant/bar in C’ville during DMB’s inception. Dave is a brilliant songwriter and plays the music how they want to play it, not just to please the masses. ❤️😎🎸

Saw him at a coffee shop in Seattle once. He came in and the barista said, "Hey Dave" like he was any other local.

2nd generation DMB fan. Took my oldest to a show this summer and he is now a forever fan! 3 generations of fans in my family and in so many others! I’d say the legacy will live on forever.

I’ve been listening to DMB since the 90s and have such respect for the music they have created over the past 30 years. When I hear an interview like this, it makes me have respect for him, specifically. He sounds like a smart, funny, and eloquent person, and the world is just a little bit better while Dave and his band are with us.

I got to see Dave Matthews Band in early nineties when they came to Wilmington, North Carolina, and were first starting out. They came and played at the Airport. It was a small concert, and only their very first CD was out. I couldn't wait to get it. I think they have a brilliant style. Thanks Dave Matthews for decades of great music!
