Truly a MAGNUM OPUS, this is one of those albums that is every bit as challenging and rewarding to LISTEN to as it was for them to record. You put this album on and listen to the last note. Timeless.

So cool to see stuff like this. I've said this on other videos but I'll say it again: as a 21-year old who's only gotten to know and fall in love with DMB in the last few years, it's incredible to be able to who they were in the '90s. I'm so lucky.

It's a shame there are no shows on TV like ultrasound anymore. Back in the 90s these kinds of shows were some of my favorite to watch. no one nowadays cares anything about the people they listen to. the songs are so fake and manufactured that there's basically no human beings behind them
@TheJayofthejungle4 жыл бұрын
there are docs all over youtube about the making of certain albums. typically something the band themselves have made. try searching you might be surprised

The general public barely gives a shit anymore. What are they gonna show? The drums being sample replaced and quantized, vox being autotuned? There's so little substance left in immediately available and popular music that there's nothing to show for it. 5 writers recycling lyrics? When Dave here has the AUDACITY to be humble about his incredible penmanship

Man... I happen to be visiting a friend at UVA and I knew when I heard them. It wasn't a stretch to think to myself. "These guys are going to be a major band very soon." Funk, country and jazz, in a rock format mixed together perfectly. Not a weak link in the bunch.

I found his comments on living in the moment to be most interesting. These guys are creators. The creative process is long and arduous-you have to build on top of all the work you’ve already done. It’s nice that this band seems to all get along better than-say- Pink Floyd. 20 years later they haven’t been able to recapture the magic of BTCS, though Busted Stuff was also great.

I really love this album, but the interludes in between the songs are some of the most interesting forgotten gems of the band's career. I actually thought they were saying "love head" when I first heard it. haha I just still think that adding backup vocals to Stay was a mistake.

“Im more critical of the stuff I write that’s depressing....” -Dave .....there ya go: why the Lillywhite Sessions were what they were, got scrapped/shelved, replaced w Everyday, then revisited and released on Busted Stuff once Where Are You Going? and You Never Know emerged and were added to lighten it up. .......insight and foreshadowing in that phrase right there.

this really is fascinating. the band and dave especially felt the pressure to write new songs in the studio and steve was able to whip them into this incredible sound. he wrangled their insanity and he is a production genius. dave was on the edge of manic depression and he succumbed to it the following year during the lillywhite sessions. that album would have been so well made but they must have butt heads with steve and that is so unfortunate. they didnt realize what they had with steve. everyday was okay but it was a reaction and dave and that producer wrote it without the band. when the band got back in the studio after busted stuff they had a producer who was a yes man and just made easy loops for the band to stay positive about. it is what it is. will always cherish these gems before stand up came out. i feel it made the band limit their potential because it was easier to do.

How did you get it without the MTV logos appearing regularly in the top right? THe version I have seems like the colors are a little better but the fine detail on this one here is increased. I hope they get the source and put as good a quality as they can on a CD+Blu-ray deluxe edition next year, this has always been one of my fave vids. I expect the original source is 480i video but still, as clean as we can get it I'm happy. This is about the best looking I've seen to date.
