Dave Moltrup's Amazing HO Scale Steel Mill Layout

Visiting my friend Dave Moltrup's HO scale layout. Dave is exceptionally knowledgeable on the workings of US steel mills, and his layout features incredibly detailed steel mills with many scratch built components. Dave models the area in and around his hometown of Beaver Falls, PA.

I used to work at British Steel Corporation Forges Foundries and (HEAVY) Engineering Sheffield UK in the 1970's. It was a large site 4 miles long 3 miles wide eith EAF, foundries, and VERY large lathes in several machine shops. We also made large parts for other steel plants in the BSC Group as well as our normal large engineering customers. I used to drive the hot metal trains as welll as scrap trains etc. NO REMOTE LOCOMOTIVES!! This model brings back so many memories of the UK steel industry in the 1970's. Mostly all gone.

I see videos of steel mills and wondered how they work. This is very informative, especially with the new production works and the old. He even has and explains the specialized track vehicles on what is called the high line rail. This is a gold mine of info for the steel mill modeler. High quality steel mill modeling at its best.
