I was literally crushed on the day they announced he died. Dave Niehaus was simply put the greatest announcer in the history of the game. He brought so much joy to all the listeners in greater Seattle-Tacoma. It's just like losing a family member cause he was always in your living room, your car, wherever when listening. RIP Dave and Thank You!

If the M's make it and Win it all, it should be for Dave Niehaus. Listening to his disappointment all those years the M's failed told me just how much his heart was into it. Absolutely Love that Man. Rick Rizz too. If it was up to me, Rick Rizz would do the simulcast for TV and radio.Not a big fan of Sims.

@Harry Engel Not until we get a competent GM in the front office. Dipoto ain't it. Wonder if we can lure Theo Epstein out this way?
@ChristopherUSSmith4 жыл бұрын
@Harry Engel Segura, Cano, Cruz, Paxton and Diaz and a couple of others like Zunino and Herrmann were all winning games for the M's. What does Dipoto do? *TRADE THEM!!!!!* No team can expect to fill seats while sending top talent elsewhere. Don't even get me started about the two stupid trades this season of two of their most productive hitters, setting home run milestones as M's. (Incarnación and Bruce)
@ChristopherUSSmith4 жыл бұрын
@Harry Engel Dipoto might as well complete The Great Seattle Fire Sale by trading Haniger, Seager, Leake and Hernández.
@ChristopherUSSmith4 жыл бұрын
@Harry Engel Sadly, that's exactly what he trying to do. This attitude of playing to win by playing to lose is very disturbing. The M's, Reds, and at least two other teams are on track for greater than 100 losses. Just because the Astros were successful in doing so doesn't guarantee any other team will, and you still need to have good players to sell tickets to pay for those alleged cheaper players. down the road. Dipoto was giving money in addition to those big name players traded, too, which makes no fiscal sense whatsoever.

The Double. Yes, Dave. That was easily #1. I was there, and it was magic. Absolute magic. As we were all losing our minds, celebrating the historic victory we just watched, it was as if there was a slight pause from a large portion of the crowd. Then, the spotlight shone on the broadcast booth. I, along with thousands and thousands, erupted with every bit of volume and energy I had!! I think the resulting eruption was nearly as loud as when Griffey crossed the plate. It was later, that I heard the call. My God. That was incredible. I was floored. And even all these years later, and after hearing it many times, I still get chills and moist eyes, when I hear “…I DON’T BELIEVE IT!!”. Because that is exactly what I was yelling. In the Centerfield bleachers…. Thank you Dave. Rest In Peace.

@warrencaudle43783 жыл бұрын
The Double was great, fantastic, all the wheels in motion. Probably the biggest Yankee breaker was Edgar hitting the Grand Salami, after his 3-run home run earlier. M's traded Randy, some folks said he was beyond his prime. Niehaus never said that. Randy goes on to win 3 Cy Young awards, WS MVP, and a perfect game with Arizona. Junior leaves, A-Rod leaves, Ichiro leaves. No wonder they never made the WS. Still, great memories. So many games listened to in my car traveling across Montana and Idaho.
