Ah... Fellow Eu4 noob. I too have only 500+ hours in this game. But i must add somethink to what you said. One of the Biggest + in the game for me is that you ALWAYS learn somethink new. Ps: For the new players: At 500 hours mark you will probably only now start to understand whats happening in the game on level that allows you to play confidently. And dont even think about World Counquest before 200-300 hours played on higher difficulty.

@@kosaraczek1 I knew about states and got full cores from PU's and Vassals. I just never spent admin on making full cores because I had been led to believe that admin points were too precious to spend or something. It was my fault for mainly playing as European Kingdoms especially Spain where you start with a large power base so don't 'need' full cores. Obviously I now know the importance of accepted culture and States and that you benefit a LOT more from making full cores over saving admin. I didn't realise my mistake until I played as a Horde and was constantly losing money which made me desperate enough to full core and accept cultures just to try to make money. I am a lot better now but hey, you learn something every time.

It's worth having all the DLC (at least the gameplay ones), but it does make it hard to convince people to play the game when they view the price tag and it's also upsetting when they release a base game that's almost unplayable because they want to make it playable through DLC. EUIV was the first one that really did that intentionally, IMO.

Alpharock Salah I’ve been a Paradox fan for nearly 15 years now. I quite remember when EU4 came out and the game was trash on release. It was buggy, features present in EUIII were gone (not replaced or removed, just gone to be reintroduced later). It took a few DLC before the game was really complete. Then there was the trash that HOI4 was on release. Culminating in the grand disaster of Imperator: Rome that caused them to have to roll back this whole policy.

I like the way paradox handles stuff. Yes they make a lot of DLCs but they delivered a finished base game and are steadily providing new content for it. Yes there were a few updates where i wasn't very happy with them but overall i think its a great company.

@@Grangelzz Well not sure. I think they delivered a good base game and came up with content to make the game better. That we could have hardly imagined back then. But nowadays there are sure things that should become part of the basegame. The last few patches for example made development kinda necessary. I recently again played the base game on an old patch because a few friends started a game like that. The only real problem i had with it was the lack of things i could do with my monarch points.

Part of the free stuff should have been in the dlc as it is bad if u play the base game (i am talking about the nerf to playing wide which is just bad if u dont have the dlc for development). Although im no big fan of their DLC practice and think they could atleast make it a bit more player friendly by atleast splitting up DLC into core features and bonus shenanigans and then bring out 2 dlcs both at half the price of the current DLC or 75% for the core and 25% for the bonus they are by all means not a big company like Blizard, for example the HOI 4 team has only 2 Developers for Focuses, the integration of them into the technology, game world etc. The EU4 team is around 30 people and HOI 4 sits at about 35, compare that to games like Civ sits at 60+ so they are really working hard for all the content and not just some easy made money. One of the HOI team in a Dev Diary talked about how bummed he is that they sometimes have to add features into the game that were cut from the base game because their team was to small and they didn't have enough founding to finish a project in a reasonable time with the money they have been given. if the Devs had the money and time HOI 4 would have hit the shelfes with natinal focuses and alternate history for all nations in it, plus expansive diplomacy, more in depth ressources and trade aswell as modular ships, planes and tanks.

Tbh its 2 DLCs per year, so around 40 bucks a year. Without that, the game couldnt be where it is today. Also youre not forced and the game works fine with only 2 DLCs aswell. So dont scare new players away with this DLCs discussion :(
