Grant Lee Phillips was voted Rolling Stone magazine's Voice of the Year 1995. He was friends with Michael Stipe and toured with REM. He was the town troubadour in the American series "Gilmore Girls." Grant Lee Buffalo (the band) were instrumental in the creation of the soundtrack of the trippy movie "Velvet Goldmine." Grant's talent is far in excess of Noel Gallagher's...and I say that as a fan of Noel! But yeah, Grant is something else entirely. He and the band were "of a time and place." It's nigh on impossible to hear them now and feel for them what people did when they were more prominent. Their music reflected the feeling of "the time" and the economic and political currents that were flowing.

Their albums still more than stand up today. Which is why they signed a deal with Chrysallis records a few years ago, for a "DeLuxe" reissue program of their albums.

The production on some might say has bugged me for years and your the only person I've seen talk about it. Too compressed for sure, but get this it was reproduced for that game guitar hero? I think it's called and for some reason it gets the production so much better then the original. There's a guitar riff that goes through the song that you can't really here in the original as well and the guitar hero version brings it up in the mix it's a very melodic and beautiful riff that I miss when listening to the original. You should check it out. But good reaction again guys ❤

Grant Lee Buffalo's 4 albums were a masterclass in modern melodic rock songwriting, full of great songs, inventive arrangements, and intellectual depth. And for a 3 piece they could make a huge f*cking sound when they wanted to, especially live, which is something they were justafiably celebrated for. I'd take GLB over Oasis's gormless and plodding pub rock any day of the week. In 2011, twelve years after they originally disbanded, they were easily able to fill the Royal Festival Hall in London as part of a sold out reunion world tour. And all their albums were the subject to a "DeLuxe reissue program" by Chrysallis records just a few years ago. Not that "forgotten", Noel.

If you do something like this with Oasis 'Don't Go Away' and The Real People 'Feel The Pain" Dave will fall from the chair. 🤣
@jonathanward73204 ай бұрын
This is the most heinous one of the lot in my opinion. Noel says he’s open to nicking things of other songs, but when he literally took the entire chorus off feel the pain and never once gave credit to the Real People, I thought that was a bit sh*tty of Noel. I do believe if you look on Wikipedia now it’ll say the songwriter is solely Noel, when really it should have a co-write credit for Chris Griffiths.

@@jonathanward73208 words of lyrics only. The Real People song sounds like something I'd write and think it sounds shit.
@jonathanward73204 ай бұрын
@@Nolimitss6 8 words of lyrics that formed the chorus of the song on one of the biggest selling albums of the 90’s, and absolutely no credit was given. Whatever you think of the real peoples song is frankly irrelevant. The fact of the matter is, he lifted the chorus and made it off as his own. He may have made it better but that’s not the point, you can’t take someone’s work and plagiarise it. It’s not the same as being inspired by a song and writing something similar or taking a chord progression and tweaking it, those words weren’t written by Noel, Chris Griffiths deserves at least a writing credit on the song.

the 2nd band whats up with them? you got a record deal and you release a song thats so miserable? il never understand that. its just annoying after 2mins of it. The only similarity is D Bm . Thats how I see it, just blows my head when i hear these artists, grasp your youth and fortune and then put a song out just wailing! Nuts Some Might Say is inspirational. Makes you want to buy a guitar and get a band.

Two good songs just for different moods. You can say why put out a song that miserable, it doesn’t sound miserable at all to me, sounds melancholy maybe, but I think it’s extremely gorgeous, and it makes me feel something. Don’t know anything else by Grant Lee Buffalo and I’m a big Oasis fan. Do you find Let’s All Make Believe miserable? Or Stop Crying Your Heart Out? A band isn’t obliged to just make upbeat music, there’s a time and place for all types of songs
