Dave's Story: Taking Big Step From Limb Loss to Lawyer

Dave experienced limb loss due to complications from a heart transplant. After inpatient, day rehabilitation and prosthetic training at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, he has regained mobility and learned how to walk with a prosthetic leg.
Recently, Dave reached another big milestone: he was sworn in as a lawyer by the Illinois Supreme Court. At the ceremony, as his physical therapist, Jan, looked on, Dave stood on his own to take the oath to practice law. “I want to be an inspiration for whoever may need it,” Dave said.
