The thing that blows my mind about Weckl is not even his amazing chops, its that every solo he plays there is a wealth of completely unique and different ideas. The dude is creative and musical beyond belief. Even if something has a similar rhythmic pattern or subdivision, it's orchestrated or accented completely different so that it all sounds fresh. Saw him last night and totally blew me away. Love this solo

Could not agree more, Nick. He is my favotite drummer bar none. His musicality just keeps expanding and getting better, more creative. I saw him a few years back and he just blew me away. Hope to see him again someday.

As amazing as Dave Weckl is, i'm even more impressed with the fact that he's not impressed with himself. He is constantly challenging himself, changing and adapting, and is at a TOTALLY different place musically than he was in the 90's. That alone is inspiring to me….

i saw him 2 years ago at the blue note with chick and the electric band ( with victor wooten on bass) and what he did with songs he's been playing for 20 years was absolutely jaw dropping. fresh interpretations, flawless technique, and swung us into the ground...

Of all the amazing drummers ever born Weckl for me is most fun to watch. His fluidity just takes it to a whole other level. It's as though hes not playing a multitude of note but rather playing one long fluid note. Otherworldly....

Great Dave, he is unique to rotate accent on each pattern. But great job also for the bass Tom Kennedy, he keep the time without any electronic click on hearphone during Dave's virtualism so Dave can have his referement on each beat. Great sound !!

I would have been so nice to have access to this stuff back when I first started playing. 1977. Back then it was Neil Peart and Rush for me. But having KZbin back then would have been phenomenal and I'm sure would have made a huge difference in my playing.
