He suffered for our entertainment. He gave way more than could be asked of anyone. One of my favorite drummers of all time.

This dude probably has one of the tightest blasts ever. His playing is always so clean and precise. He is such a brilliant drummer

I speak on behalf of all grindfreaks when I say thank you for everything Dave, you’re a legend. I play Discordance Axis every week, my Ulterior vinyl still sounds like brand new despite SEVERAL full spins!

Tbf with grind you likely wouldn’t notice a decrease in sound quality lmao

@@MadCritter That’s funny you say that, my friend has a copy of Scum that is scratched to shit, you can sorta tell how beat up it is.

Several spins isn't going to result in any noticeable decrease in quality lol

To think that all those snare hits on the DA albums are all arm. Good lord.

I don't remember this segment, and I just watched Slave to the Grind four days ago. I believe Dave when he says his blasts have numbered in the fucking *BILLIONS* though because holy shit just listen to D.A. for five minutes.

The universe tried to get rid of him, but he just keeps on coming back for more! Dude is a legend!

I feel his “Caveman” technique worked out really well. He’s a proficient drummer in every sense also seems like a friendly dude.

I'm a power-violence blast-beater, too, since the 90s. I slowly figured out easier ways, but yeah, my wrists are pretty messed up.

It's not so much that they've learned an "easier" way of doing it, it's that most drummers now are so mic'd up so they don't have to hit hard for volume, or they are solely in studios only, so they don't have to hit hard for volume. Same goes for double-bass pedals... If modern metal drummers had to play without triggers and mic's, and had to get volume, their bass drum and snare would just disappear completely.

Damn, poor Dave smh :/ At least maybe he got surgery and everything turned out great, but I think all of us can be happy as long as he is behind his kit :)

I love when he describes the pedal technique as putting out a cigarette

It’s wasn’t like I was using the fingers or anything.. it was all in the wrist. Like I was whackin that thing the whole time

The said "caveman" technique is what makes u a true grind legend, sir. Triggers are for the weak.

problem is "try hard talent" by iron zombi discipline is not your usual "i love hard music lets hit it" talent. And allot of people with musicalic talent arent good at sports=such micro movement swing stuff(fine motoric acrobatics) vise versa. Super sport freaks today doing these finger blasts and levitation doublle bass arent very musicalic. Look up most of the original drum talents metal musicians arent into sports and were the "nerds" of the class. today they Jocks use our music to polish up their niche prestige. So its basically the death of subculture.
