Appears to be an effective cartridge in regards to terminal ballistics on your plate, Dave. Seems like that new wad provides a good seal to get the most out of the load and gives nice pattern density at that long range you were shooting. USA 5's are about the equivalent to English 4's and they are more than a match for any of the pheasants we shoot over here. The unscripted pigeon was the icing on the cake and not an opportunity to be passed up! Thanks for this one, keep them coming and take care of yourself and your family. Best regards as always, Ed.

Dave I tried these in 32 gram 4 shot. I bought 1000. Bearing I am a tall fairly lean build I don't suffer with recoil, I can fire a slab of 36 gram 3's plastic wads all day long with no ill effect whatsoever. I used the quadseals on pigeons and after 75 cartridges I was struggling to keep my head on the stock due to the excessive recoil. I went home battered and bruised and took the remaining 925 cartridges back to my supplier who kindly replaced them with my usual 32gram 4 plastic wads.

Good news on the wads Dave.Intrigued to know more about the Teagues internals as a complete breakaway from the original constant conical design.These sound more like Briley or the actual American Extreme Chokes inner profile although as you pointed out there looks to be a pronounced relief to the muzzle.

We don’t see a lot of Gamebore shells here in the states, but a friend gave me a flat/case of them a few years back. They seem to hit the clays harder and dust them more if that is possible. It’s as if the shot is harder than cheap American loads.

Another great video on pattern/density/impact. Well done Dave. I assume your Mirokus are bored 18.7 like mine. Using some 40gm wool wad loads I get terrible blown patterns through tight chokes, but a half or 5/8 choke shoots an 83% pattern at 40yds. Any comments / advice please ??

@@DaveCarrieShooting shame its the most sporting bird of all and the hardest to shoot if you can shoot them consistently then you can shoot anything i do shoot driven pheasants partridges and ducks or rough walked up but it dont interest me that much pigeon shooting is alot more fun and challenging and its free yes im a tight ass but driven shoots are a rip off dont understand why someone would pay that much ive been lucky enough to get them for free never payed for a driven day but i choose pigeon and corvid shooting over it anytime and its free and also cheaper and more fun then clay shooting and cant eat clays

@@DaveCarrieShooting do you still go rabbiting dave ?
@DaveCarrieShooting4 жыл бұрын
motohunter No but used to love it, I only shoot grouse when in surplus and prefer to just shoot birds that are put down for shooting such as pheasant and partridge - thus leaving our wild indigenous species alone, I think commercial shoots are the best conservation tool we have got as it takes so much pressure of our wild stuff👌

Have you released the footage of you testing the quad seal at Warter?
@DaveCarrieShooting3 жыл бұрын

@RobertSmith-qs8yl3 жыл бұрын
Cracking shot on the pigeon, but you really need to read up on internal and external ballistics, any two cartridges with the same muzzle velocity and shot size/type will have the exact same energy at any given down range distance, it being irrelevant how the cartridge was constructed. Momentum is a factor of gun weight, mass exiting the muzzle and its muzzle velocity. Quad seal benefit, potentially a better pattern, however pattern is also a function of the gun choke otherwise why choke a gun barrel. Less propellant to obtain required muzzle velocity is certainly a commercial benefit as reduces the manufacturing cost of the cartridge.

Hi Dave, what's your view on the steel equivalent shells? I know Gambore have brought in a range with biowads and I wondered if you'd a play with them?

Don’t think steel will ever beat lead, but Gamebore are making great advances with the new wad
@colinjohnston54654 жыл бұрын
@@DaveCarrieShooting the wad changes are great but 2 shot sizes bigger means less of a pattern, with a harder shot means more injuries to me. Have you tried bismuth? Hi Dave hope you and family are well. What are your thoughts on banning lead shot and going on to steel. I'm against it on every level from less effective and humane than lead, does not suit all shotguns,/barrels!, very poor science as to its effectiveness,known to rust or needs zinc coat more toxic than lead!!!, started by John Swift ex BASC enough said, a tool for the anti, s. Even MP Liz Truss rejected the anti lead group, s findings as per John Swifts presentation. What are the alternatives, we can use paper or recyclable cases, bio wads, but I know Diamond Shot is with out equal. Take care my friend going to be an interesting 3 to 5 year period in cartridge manufacture. Regards Tony
@tonyashton7804 жыл бұрын
@union310 Some properties still have, it's only when modernising that high pressure high grade piping is used. The water pressure on old lead pipes isn't a patch on modern one, s. I see your point but iv never heard or had evidence presented of anyone in the uk injured/killed by lead consumption. It is vital for energy retention and clean humane kills. Steel shot is rubbish and just not needed.
@tonyashton7804 жыл бұрын
@union310 Can't fault your opinions and I was lucky enough to enjoy a cane rod from my late grandfather. It was made by a certain Dick Walker entombed in angling history. My nephew has it still. I only use a. 410/28 guage both 3/4 and full fixed choke. There is no way I can run steel through them. I'm sure I'm not on my own and yes lead is toxic no question, but we don't have a good viable swap to option yet IMHO. I'd happily use an eco cartridge but steel is useless side by side with lead. All the best mate regards. Tony
