I have one Flex like this three years and an older 32 amp similar model about six year old. The app is great both chargers have connect well and the info is great. The issue with this charger is support and service, once it's out of warranty the company does nothing for you at all. They basically say buy a new one, so if you didn't buy it new or the warranty is over you are out of luck. Although I like the charges and they were my top pick this is something I would have liked to have known before I bought them.

Thanks for the informative video! I’m considering buying the chargepoint for a ‘24 equinox. How do you support the charger’s WiFi connection? (I.e. easily reaches your home router, or WiFi extender, or a separate mini router in your garage?) I have a detached garage and trying to envision what I’d need to install to support the connectivity from charger to app. Thank you!

Another question. I was also considering the the Tesla charger because the handle sticks out the side. How far does the handle on this unit extend out into the garage? I don’t want it too far so I walk into it passing by. Thanks again

Good question! I'll try and get a measurement of that tonight.

About 9 inches from the wall to the farthest point on the handle when docked.

@@DavidWaltermyer thank you. That should be just fine.

Is Amazon where everyone is buying this charger from? Or can it be found cheaper somewhere else? Thank you.

@@brons000 I bought mine from Amazon. No complaints

Hmm... seeems to max out at 12kwh isn't that kinda slow? I don't have a house, but I thought these home units were faster than this.
@DavidWaltermyer4 ай бұрын
@@ghiggs5096that's pretty standard for Level two home chargers. My LYRIQ will actually do up to 19kw on Level 2, but that would require a 100a circuit and a much more expensive charger. This unit is plenty fast for me. I've not run into a situation where I wished it were faster.

12kWh is about the fastest you'll see with home charging on 240v (Level 2). That will charge most EV's in less than 8 hours while you sleep. I typically charge my Model Y using 3kW speed (240v @ 16amps) and it gives me plenty of charge for my next days' drive.
@DonHutchings-y3nАй бұрын
I dont think that you know what you are talking about. Do you have an EV??? Have you charged in public?
@auronedgevicks77394 ай бұрын
basically same as the Tesla Universal Wall Connector in terms of stats and functionality but you still have to buy the adapter for nacs when the tesla already comes with one built in
@DavidWaltermyer4 ай бұрын
It was actually between that and this. Considering I'm not planning on buying a Telsa, and it will be quite a while before I have a GM with NACS, I decided that I would rather eliminate a point of potential failure (the adapter)

Nice video. This is the unit I will be purchasing based on SOC’s review. Did you set the charge limit in the car or can you also do it on this app? Thanks
@DavidWaltermyer4 ай бұрын
SOC also sold me on this charger. If you are talking about charging to 80% for example, that is done in the car.
@jonathanstewart4900Ай бұрын
Hardwired has the NACS cord option.

This is trash. Focus on the how you want to charge. You want to max out at home. Its not the same as a home tesla charger. You need to ask yourself, what charge rate will work for me? You never mentioned the charge rate you got from home charging.

Level 2 are pretty similar speed wise, Bro. Take a breath
