Great tips, and encouragement, to host in a small space!💐

I love this! We moved to the south two years ago from a cape cod house in NY. All the houses in the south are mcmansions, and the only people hosting have giant houses. I love hosting no matter the size of the house.

Great topic! I don’t think I’ve seen anyone cover this topic in such a practical and encouraging way. I do not have the “gift of hospitality “. It doesn’t come natural to me. I also have a limited space. But, I still do it. I feel overwhelmed and to be honest- often panicked. But, you present it in such a calm way showing that it doesn’t require “extravagant”. Your tips are great! And, such a great reminder that the point of hospitality is community. Thank you!!

So glad you hear that you still host, even if it is not a "gift"!

My mom's family had 9 children. They never worried about having enough space. You can always make room. Loved seeing your ideas!

I think that is a good mindset to have!

Sweet encouragement! You have an awesome sense of style that totally reminds me of Lisa from Farmhouse on Boone (when she lived in her smaller Farmhouse).👍

Thank you. I did enjoy her in town farmhouse style and take a few ideas from her previous space.

Excellent ideas! When we had terrible wildfires here in Oregon, we had 11 family members plus a dog and a cat stay with us for four days in our 1050 sq. ft. house. Despite the circumstances, It was like a family reunion and I loved it!💗

I love the small house tips ❤️ my home has a lot of outdoor space but in terms of being inside the square footage is very modest. When we have more than two people visiting it quickly becomes small and I feel like everyone is uncomfortable… but they say my house is very homey. I’m 32 and 9 months pregnant with my first baby, so a quintessential millennial, but I’ve always made it a point not to be too precious about my furniture/home aesthetic. I have a toy box for my 3 nephews (which they happily destroy with the excitement of having different toys to drag out). As long as things are clean, smell fresh and there’s good food, people are happy.

First, congrats on your pregnancy and new baby to come soon! Second, you have a wonderful mindset about hosting and I would say keep having company over even if it is a little more cozy:)

This is so helpful. My husband and I live 9 hours from family so we don't get to spend holidays with them as often now so we now celebrate with friends in the new state we're in. The friend who normally hosts had a baby this year so I offered to host this year...in our smaller home and I've also never hosted before. The dinner planning alone is a bit stressful but I kept psyching myself out thinking, "my home isn't big or pretty enough"
