Louise and I walked most of this route ourselves during last summer and can testify to the fact it’s an absolute stunner, not to be missed! Thanks for rekindling the memories of a very pleasant day out.

Thank you Dave for a most pleasant walk around Sellborn. I've been to the village on two occasions , not touring but to play great Irish music at the Zig Zag festival first time I had to cobble a band together to play at the village hall. Apparently, a member of another band that was supposed to play became I'll and so my friend Lara phoned me in a panic. The next time we played in the pub. Both occasions were wonderful. I have been asked by Lara to play again this year.. I often Wonder what the Zig zag meant now I know. Auld Gilbert must have dug it out with a shovel. Gosh, what a hard job that must have been. If we do it and your there, say hello. Best wishes and thankyou again Edward

What a treat to find this! My family, including Elizabeth Earwaker, my great great grandmother, were residents in Fishers Buildings in 1881.

A sheer joy to share it with you. Almost every little Hampshire village you've walked me round is connected to me. Monty's grave in Binsted is only a few feet from my grandmother's. He scorned us in life, but now she can look down on him! Have you been to Crondall? I've found family history there right back to the Civil War. And Bentley, where Jane Austen's brother was perpetual curate. I'm in Durham now so visit rarely, sadly.

Many thanks Dave. That was a beautiful walk which brought back happy memories as we walked the zig-zag path with our children when they were very young - both are now in their forties, so a long time ago! I have a photo of us sat on what I'm fairly sure is the bench at the half-way point - looks much the same although more overgrown now.

Thanks Angela. Lovely memories for you. I was surprised to see how overgrown the vegetation was going up the path - I guess that the National Trust must cut it back from time to time!

Thank you so much for sharing your Selbourne Walk, Dave. It’s a village that, to date, we’d overlooked. But the beautiful scenery, picturesque village, and interesting history shown in your video will see us following in your footsteps in the next few days. I have some small insight into how much time and effort it takes to research, film and edit the videos, before you’re able to publish them. So I just wanted to let you know your endeavours are appreciated very much by us, and I’ve no doubt many others too. Well done, to both you and Logan.

Thank you for your kind comments John. I think that this was one of my favourite walks - such a pretty village and some stunning views from the top of the "Zig Zag" path.

Fingers crossed that you get good weather for your walk, Geoff. On a sunny, clear day the views from the top of the Zig Zag path are stunning.

Thanks, what is interesting if after you arrive at the top of the zig-zag if you keep straight then go left instead of going down into the village, you can go on to Noar Hill, medieval chalk pits etc, full of wild flowers, birds, deer, orchids, etc, then return back to the far side of the village, another great walk.

That looks a really beautiful part of Hampshire Dave. My wife said she visited the Gilbert White house in the 70's with her father and it bought back some happy memories.

What a lovely place Dave. I knew roughly where Selbourne was, but I’ve never visited it. The zig zag path must be fairly unique and looks like a wonderful walk. Very pretty cottages, with a great variety of styles and that strange church clock with only one hand. As you rightly say, Very difficult to read from a distance. Not sure if I could read it at all. Definitely a place for us to visit. One of your best. Thank you Dave.

Another lovely walk, so well produced by you. I went to the zig zag walk after the storm you mentioned that flattened much of the area in 1990. I have some photos somewhere. Keep up the good work, it is so nice to follow you and Logan. 👍

Thank you for your kind comments. It can be quite upsetting to see storm damage to ancient trees that have stood for so long.

Thank you. The first bit of music is "Firefly" by Chris Haugen (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJCpnWCho9SYpMk). The second bit of music is "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" by Zachariah Hicks (there are various versions on KZbin but I downloaded my clip from the free youtube audio library).

The first turn a zigzag line makes is called a zig, and the second is called the zag

I find it sad that “developers” seem to get their grubby hands into beautiful villages, and just go ham on Developing houses all over them.
