This was the first video I tried, and IT WORKED! I had gained weight since we had bought my wedding band 12 years ago, and it was starting to get too tight. I hadn't been able to take it off for over a year. This trick-- using dental floss and Windex-- is what got it off! I didn't think it was possible! I had to use an extra long piece of floss, wind it lots and lots of times, and had to re-wind it three times as it was very hard to remove the ring. I just carefully pulled it back through without dislodging the ring's current position, re-wrapped it, and kept going again. After three times it was over the knuckle! Thank God!

I had back to back babies, born 1yr and 2 days apart, followed by an injury that left me hard casted and using crutches for 4 months, followed by the pandemic and weighing 80 pounds more than a few years back. For a month or so, I’d been waking multiple times a night with extreme pain and weakened muscles in my left hand. I thought it was Arthritis or possibly a carpel tunnel issue. I randomly mentioned it to a patron of my workplace yesterday, who informed me that it was likely from my wedding band, and that my finger tip was discolored and showing obvious signs of literally dying because of poor circulation, and that it was very likely the ring or my finger needed to go. On a whim, I decided to check KZbin and found this video. Initially, it didn’t work because I wasn’t even able to get the ribbon under the band. But after applying dawn dish soap and enlisting the help of a neighbor, I was finally able to remove my band. I’m not going to pretend it didn’t hurt. I def screamed and cried, and I’ve delivered 3 babies vaginal my without an epidural so my pain tolerance is pretty high. This was near torture. Going over the knuckle made me literally throw up from the pain. But it’s off, and as soon as I lose the weight, I can wear it again as it’s not cut. Down 8. 70 to go 💪🏻💪🏻

omg THANK YOU! i had to ravel it pretty taught to un-swell my finger (it had gotten irritated when i went at it too much trying to get the ring off) and add liquid soap, but it came off! 🎉 a word of advice: if you finish unwinding the ribbon and the ring’s still not off, just keep pulling on the ribbon with the circular method (pulling on sides of the ring instead of the whole thing at once). you don’t want to lose your progress you’ve made by maybe letting go. it’s gonna hurt, but it’ll come off!!

I had heard of the floss trick before but didn’t consider using ribbon instead until I found your video. It took a few tries but I was able to remove the ring by myself and now it won’t freak me out that I can’t get it off. After jamming/spraining my finger, and not taking ring off immediately, my finger swelled probably 1.5x normal overnight. This method worked, but had to wrap A LOT tighter, then cover with soap, then pull like crazy to compress the part right in front to the ring, unwrap (while also pushing in the ring), then pull tight again, repeat. Literally felt like I was going to cut through my finger at a few points. But it's off now!

I have had rings stuck on both of my thumbs for about 7 years now due to weight gain from pregnancy. The dental floss method didn't work for me, the floss kept getting tangled and broke. I finally got the rings off using smooth ribbon and coconut oil!!! Give it a go!!! Best of luck.

Thank you. This worked for me today. I had tried elevating, cold water, and lubricating it. My first attempt was with dental floss, but it was too thin. Then, when I used gift wrapping ribbon, it finally worked, but it was painful. My finger is slowly returning to normal now (although it feels kind of naked after wearing the ring for 30 years.)

This didn't work for me, but covering my ring and finger with dish soap while the ribbon was under the ring and then pulling both sides of the ribbon together and using it to hold the ring while circling and pulling downwards while pointing my hand down also, worked great! I had someone else doing it for me. We then moved to the ring on my other hand and the dishsoap and ribbon method worked just as easily and quickly. For anyone who didn't have success with the method in this video, give it a try. Good luck.

I'm amazed how well it worked! Mine was tighter than this pic! We used a length of crochet thread leftover from my afghan, and wrapped it much closer, tighter, and many more times around! It only hurt a little, but was well worth it! And my finger was back to normal in seconds!

Oh my god I have just got my ring off using dental tape. I had been trying to get it off for the last 3 days.
