And your first image -- There are soooooo many more people in the store at almost all hours. The parking lot is huge and it is almost always 3/4 full. Hi, I visited my son in LA in 1992 and did a bit of shopping in Costco as one does. I bought a dozen Kirkland crew neck T shirts. I have worn them daily for the past thirty years and they are just about to the rag stage now. That has been the best buy I have ever made. I did buy another six V neck ones on a visit to Canberra Australia 10 years ago, but they were of much thinner material and not up to the USA purchases. Cheers mate. Harera

I tried Babel, but had to cancel as my budget wouldn’t allow the expenditure, unfortunately. The costs of everything here are prohibitive. My grandfather migrated here way back when from Lisboa. Membership in Spain is 36€ per year, however, Costco website does state your card is valid worldwide. I have seen US membership cards in Spain. Currently, you do not have a Costco in Portugal, but you do have 4 in Spain. Depending on where you are in Portugal, the closest Costco is only 1h30m away (if you are in Algarve, the closest one is in Sevilla). You also have a couple Costcos in Madrid area, even if you travel from Lisbon to Madrid is less than 6 hour drive. Also, no border controls or anything, because it´s schengen space.

@69MiguelFR11 ай бұрын
@@davidmartinspresents I'll be honest with you, as someone who has been living away from home for almost a decade. Some things you won't miss, but others you will, more than you expect. Usually the ones you miss are the little comfort things or everyday items you take for granted but in other countries they simply don't have. Costco is not just a place to buy in bulk, and you can certainly save more than the membership fee in just one visit, but for you, it will also be the place to get these little things. He mentioned the maple syrup, I can assure you it's not a common item in Portugal - maybe there's a special type of cookies you like you can only get at Costco, maybe a beverage or the hotdogs. I grew up in Portugal, and to this day, I still prefer certain items from there. I actually do the opposite trip (Spain > Portugal) to get some of these things, I have lived in other countries further away and I would get someone to mail non-perishable items when possible. For the sole purpose of saving money, it makes no sense, just on the membership fee and fuel you will spend quite a lot, however you can plan ahead and make a weekend getaway out of it, with the plus of shopping at Costco on the return trip.
