This entire song hinges on 3:47. The moment when the prior three-minutes-and-forty-seven-seconds of playing it cool all come to an unadulterated and unforgiving emotional head. Few songs capture such genuine and emphatic emotion. This song sets a very real bar in terms of what it means to love another person. Gratitude and support and respect. It's about a mature and unconditional love ("I'd do anything for you" / "Lovely lady, I am at your feet" / "Lovely lady, I will treat you sweetly, Adore you" / "With each moment the more I love you" / "So much you have given love, That I would give you back again and again, Meaning I'll hold you, And please let me always"). He is so overwhelmed with love for this woman that he feels crushed, oppressed, absolutely smothered by his feelings for her. I can't think of any other song that comes close to expressing such pure, raw love as "Crush."

Its sad that so many people focus on superficial lyrical meanings to the point that they miss complete musical genius. Honestly the part of the song that you said was the "definitive moment" -in translation- is the lower-quality portion. Sad really.
@meghanamoroso7187 жыл бұрын
+TheWhynaut People connect with music in different ways and for different reasons.What is sad is when someone can't get past their music own snobbery enough not to judge someone else's emotional connection to a song. What is sad is when someone needs to feel superior so badly that they tell someone else that they are wrong for appreciating a song for the "wrong" reason. Maybe he does realize the ways in which it is musically genius . But maybe the lyrics resonate with him in such a way that he was moved to speak on them. I doubt there is an artist alive who wouldnt be pleased that someone was moved by and appreciates their work .

People like me aren’t allowed to be “musicians” and since it was our childhood dream our souls were “crushed” a lot of times us artistic types are emotional.but as children we were fed the idea of money and music, if we didn’t have the right influence around us, we didn’t learn until later that music is about the love of life expressed though vibration, and our music won’t be released until we are 40. But don’t look for it on the radio. Treasure must be searched for.

I remember my friend in highschool (98) let me borrow his Dave Matthews CD. I played the heck out of this song, then one day he got in my car, and said hey I need that CD back. He forgot about it. 😢

The bass player from this band..... I read something about how he had to sneak into bars to play because he was to young. And he's still there after many years. MAD RESPECT
