to anyone (like me) who just came here for the photoshop effect: it's at 8:30, just click Filter > Blur > Motion Blur

He goes to fast after adding motion blur. I just started with PS and I cant tell how to unblur the car.
@apotato80765 жыл бұрын
@@frankcardenas3896 you can probably just use crtl+Z / cmd+Z (Mac), or, when using it as a Smartobject I think you can just remove the Motion blur filter from the layer list (idk for sure, just came to my mind, I too am new to PS)

Hi Dave. By cutting the car out of the layer and then filling in the hole with a content aware fill you will then be able to blur the background as much as you like. You would still have to do some tweaking with the semi transparent areas like windows but it would not be too difficult to get convincing results.
@DaveMcKeegan6 жыл бұрын
I have found mixed results from doing this, has worked well on occasions but depending on the background and how big the car is in the frame, the content aware can sometimes just create a complete mess 😂
@ScottWilliamsPhotography6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it can be a bit dodgy. I have managed to cut quite large things from the background but it does require patching and messing about with. Probably a bit too messy a job for a nifty little video like this one.
@justinking23695 жыл бұрын
Yep I've found this method more convincing. A little use of clone tool also helps. Removing the subject completely doesn't have to be bang on as it will be blurred anyway then the subject put back

For my first time considering 'motion blur effect' in photoshop this is a godsend. Thank you. Greetings from a Brit residing in the USA.

One point about panning worth mentioning is that as the car moves, its positional perspective relative to the photographer will change even if you keep the car perfectly centered. It's therefore impossible to keep the entire car perfectly sharp while panning from a stable position. At best, a small point of the car (preferably the nose) will appear pretty sharp, but there will be slight blurring along the rest of the car, increasing with distance from the point of clarity. However, the entire car will appear sharp compared to the completely-blurred background.

I have shot race cars from 10 to 400mm and I actually find it a lot easier at 400mm than 10mm. When you're only a few feet away from the cars they move relatively very fast... It's much easier to use slow shutter speeds when panning as opposed to staying still, and panning shots make culling easier

To avoid the halo effect from the blurred car, you could erase it using content-aware fill and then place the unblurred car on top.. that would solve thathalo effect nicely

Great video Dave. IMO one should always try and get the effect in camera and some days on a shoot circumstances just seem to conspire against you. So now we can legetamise by calling it Art and expressing our creative side in photoshop. Is it cheating, ..well,...mmmmm, no as it making good what could technically achieve on a good day.

Cracking idea to open up a new line beyond tech discussions (as per most photo channels) and a bit of technical tips. So much work & technique is in prod but none of the other channels give help in that area. It's a hell of a can of worms to open up though :-) so I think you're right to start at the level you have before getting into smart objects & layer masks so you can work non-destructively.

Nice one. Why not take a blurred shot of the background without the car, ashot with the car frozen and add radial blur to the wheels?
@DaveMcKeegan5 жыл бұрын
That could also work as well, although if it's a car with windows then you'll be able to see the static background through them
