I know I've commented on the flying fickle finger of fate before but to tell you I love that thing is an understatement! I'm afraid that if I had that I would carry it around with me everywhere I went to include the doctor's office and grocery store.

We had an inch of powder last night but that's it so far. I'm not a big fan of snow and am always grateful for a "green" Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and yours and happy flying!

I've got you covered. This eagle should attract some birds if the winter weather doesn't blow them away.

I just really enjoy watching you build anything. You're pretty good. When did you get your new Taranis X7S? What happened to your XD9+? I think I saw that radio, X7S, on your first eagle now that I think about it. As always great vid.
@DaveMerc

Happy Holidays Jim! We have three Taranis'. I have been using the QX7S more lately because of the easy menu knob. I also have an X9D and my son has the X9D+. I have both eagles on the QX7S now. I also have some Specktrum radios like the DX8 and DX6i that have not got much use lately. Thanks for watching!

Hi Dave, a really great series ! ! I am currently building my large eagle as a pure glider (sharp spout instead of a bulky motor). I will use this bird for slope soaring in the high Austrian Alps - true and real eagle environment ! My question: Where is your battery located; close to c.g. ? Since flying without motor and prop I will have to replace their mass by a (smaller) battery alone - to be located towards / within the head. Thanks for a brief comment on your battery location !

Dave as others said, great video, to the point and full of info! one question: why replace the v tail servos with metal gears while using the stock plastic servos for the ailerons?
@lasersbee
@lasersbee 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah... I was wondering the same thing. I would have switched the type of servos around. The larger surface Ailerons would apply more force to the servos.
@DaveMerc
@DaveMerc 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Question: Why stock servos on the wings but more expensive metal gear servos on the v-tail? Answer: My experience has been that the RC Eagle will fly ok with one or none of the ailerons but if one of the v-tail servos fails it always ends badly. Therefore to save money I use the cheaper plastic gear servos on the ailerons.

Nice touch, strengthening with ply doublers. Only dislike is eschewing original electronics. Review should use what the average buyer would go with.

Superb video Dave. Question: Do you use V-tail in the initial model configuration on your taranis? Thanks

No wasn't necessary to use it.

Always wondered, what size fuel line do you use? The odd model comes with some, but I'd like to use it on all my planes. I live in the UK, so a rough size in mm would be appreciated, cheers.
@DaveMerc
@DaveMerc 4 жыл бұрын
The answer to that is 6.35mm OD or 1/4 inch OD fuel line hose is what I have been using to hold the clevises closed.

@@DaveMerc Cheers for the fast responce Dave. Would that 6mm size be the inner diameter? I've found some Silicolne tube 6x8mm. Do you reckon that would be about right, or is the 6mm the oiter diameter? So more 4x6mm?
@DaveMerc
@DaveMerc 4 жыл бұрын
6.35mm OD or 1/4 inch OD so it's probably the 4x6mm.
