I have even fewer :(... Every slope around me seems to be under the control of the Army Corp of Engineers, thus there's a near 100% chance of being asked to leave if they find you flying...and what a waste of a resource, if you ask me. These dams are amazing for sloping! Thanks for the video!

I’ve had my eye on one of these “eagles” for a couple of months now. This video encourages me to get one. I had a lot of fun pestering the crows in a park I used to fly at. I built a 30” nutball that flew really well for me an it drove the crows crazy. What fun! 😁

Just a quick heads up Andrew. A couple Mates & I came across this rather cranky irate terradactyl in the back yard. Thought you would love to slope it. We sedated it with a crate of sodium pentathol, stuffed it in a shipping container addressed to you. Shipping company gave us some glaring looks till we told them it was a butterfly. Any way looking forward to seeing it on the slopes. It's a kit version so be careful adding necessary electronics. It was still kicking when it left the docks. Good luck.

Lovely vid and thank you once again! She certainly loves to be up there. I've been fascinated by wingtip feathers ever since coming across the winggrid experiments from years ago (early 2000s) - very low induced drag and less likely to tip stall etc. I love to watch eagles and other such birds soaring - yours is no exception! Cheers and thanks from Sydney - Dave

Thanks Dave. The drag weight lift balance is just right for smooth sloping with this one

@@AndrewNewton Certainly looks that way. I might have to look into one. Closest I have is the Phoenix 2000 from a few years back. I may have (ever so slightly...) overpowered mine however and it climbs vertically just like a sailplane should (at about 5G)! :-) Ever looked at the winggrid? Would make an excellent project for you - especially the asymmetrical glider with a very short wing + winggrid on one and a full length wing on the other with equal lift characteristics. Wonder why it never really 'took off'?? :-)

Yes, this is an old video but I must comment on the Eagle II. I maidened mine today and just like yours, this thing is so smooth and easy to fly. In fact it flies itself mostly. Highly recommend this bird. A very large eagle I thought was a turkey buzzard flew very close and it looked more like and eagle. Anyway, it followed my bird around for several minutes. Very awesome experience. Thanks for your videos on this bird. 👍

I think it's not the Prop slowing it down, it's rather the Wingtips, because the Setup prefere Thermal, any fast Birds Wingtips, are very sharply pointed, best Exampels are the Wings from Swallows and the Peregrine Falcon, the fastest Bird at all. Awesome! Very smooth & controllable for such a lightly loaded model. Just for a laugh I have the ailerons set up as spoilerons on mine ... pull the momentary switch on the Taranis and they both go full up :-) Might be handy for spot landings on the slope? I only just noticed you have the tailplanes the other way up to mine ... I have the spars underneath and hinges on top. Clearly makes no difference either way in terms of flying performance! Will be interested to see it go without the prop (or with a folder?) and in lighter winds.

Didn't think i would mind only rudder /elevator but now find I do! Looks like you might recommend the Phoenix 2400 V2 - or maybe something else?? Appreciate your opinion. Keep doing what your doing - its good stuff! Cheers Andy M (UK/NZ based).
@AndrewNewton5 жыл бұрын
Hey Andy. The Phoenix Evolution (2.6m configuration) is the best of the foamy thermal gliders, sadly discontinued now. Not so impressed with the 2400 for thermals, it's too big and draggy and will tip stall too easily. Great for sloping and FPV cruising but not gliding. Dont like the ASW28 much for thermals either. The Phoenix 2000 V2 is probably the pick at the moment.
