Best video yet Dave - Thank you! Having done a field workshop with you a couple of years back, I can vouch for how you use these techniques in the field and on the fly to ensure a good experience for your attendees.

Good advice. Having disabilities, hiking is out for me but your advice on this will still be helpful in planning trips. Oh, I used to guide canoe trips in Canada when younger.

Great Advice, Ive been into videography and photography and hiking but also drone footage, Im not a professional but do it for my own enjoyment and sharing with family and friends, I have so many apps showing all weather stations, winds at altitudes, temperatures forecasts etc, small cost to pay for a detailed look at everything, VHF radio, GPS devices, oh the list goes on, heck I now that I think about it I have a lot of stuff even foldable solar panels to recharge things. I have found waterfalls that take 6hrs hike to get to off track and I know just by doing google searches that no one has a single image of it, makes you feel great when you nail that shot at the right time of day. All I can say is get purification tablets for water, I have run out of water in the middle of summer and was very thankful I had those tablets with me as there were streams I collected water from and those tablets allow for safe drinking water in only 30 mins.

Awesome video & course content, just going through it now, I've got a lot of catching up to do. You have really grown this content over the last 12 months, what I am learning here will also allow me to plan for better fishing trips. Your hard work & dedication to your platform is really paying off, Congratulations Dave.

Excellent information, Dave! Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge. Although I will probably not venture into wilderness hiking, I will definitely utilize your suggestions and educational material for searching areas to safely hike, weather conditions, and photography.

Dave, do you use a buddy-system or do you solo-hike most of the time? Your SOPs for emergency situations would be helpful if you could share them. Thx.

This is great advice! For someone who is interested in starting solo wilderness backpacking in the northwest have your interactions with mountain lions and bears been around your campsite or bumping into them on the trail?

Glad you liked it. Never had any issues. Sleep with my food right by my head. The most dangerous thing you'll do on a backpacking trip is drive to the trailhead. This may be useful for you: www.davemorrowphotography.com/backpacking-checklist

The GOES16 Satellite image is amazing for cloud coverage too since its high resolution imagery! Helps me a lot in fog as well if there isnt too much cloud above that, and the infared can help even when it's dark out.

Great video with valuable advice. Because you are a full-time professional landscape photographer, and could justify the expense of a Fuji GFX100, why do you still prefer the Nikon Z7?

Hey David, thanks for the great information. There is a great ebook written by Stan Rose called "Weather Forecasting for Photographers". I copied his bio from the ebook. Stan is a professional meteorologist with a graduate degree in Atmospheric Science from the University of Washington. He has over fifteen years of forecasting experience, including ten with the National Weather Service in Colorado and California. He is an avid storm chaser, and also an avid photographer, with over 10 years experience photographing the landscapes of North America. National Weather Service in Colorado and California. He is an avid storm chaser and also an avid photographer, with over 10 years experience photographing the landscapes of North America......I have no interest in this so just Google the name of the book if you are curious.
