Dave, do you know if this model is classed as a moped or a motorcycle? I’m looking at getting one, but I need to know if I need a motorcycle licence first.

I believe with the throttle it is officially classed as a moped. Though if you removed this function and it was only pedal assist I think that would be ok. However there is the power, I think it’s over the legal uk limit.

Cheers dude. Yeah, from what DVLA said, it’s over the UK limit for EAPC’s, which don’t require a licence; but, in order to use anything over 250W you need a driver’s licence and insurance, tax etc. The DVLA aren’t clear on what constitutes needing a driver’s licence versus needing a motorcycle licence. Appreciate the response all the same 👍🏻

1000w motor makes it illegal right? My local bike shop wont even touch these random brand ebikes either even for a puncture. So good look getting it repaired

It has weak and very noisy brakes. Acceleration is also one of its weakest points due to big wheels and weight. Just for tall people. But the design is perfect.

Supporting the argument for unrestricted ebikes on public roads has a major problem and that is it presents justification for those who want to impose speed limits on cyclists. Ebikes are already being used as examples by those wanting to further this position. We need to be careful what we wish for as we may just get it.

Well I currently see these type of bikes being used by food delivery riders and thy're not pedaling, so they know the cheat as well. All I would say for these type of bikes don't charge the battery indoors or a shed, garage etc.
