It is when you’re in the right spot covered up in deer. I’ve sat all day and not seen a deer but I was on a beast ! He was a 187” 351 lb bruiser that I eventually got. That’s big for Louisiana. It still holds the record for weight with a bow on a NWR and for the state !
@pinhotiproject2 жыл бұрын
It's really isn't. I've intended to a few times but never pulled it off. But with this many deer around the entire day flew by.

Dave always has good content,for sure. He seems to be a good deer hunter as well so those deer better hide somewhere good and beware of all things that sound like a real wild turkey. They may find out he's the best turkey caller/hunter there is and is on another level from the rest of us mortals. If I ever see him on the NF I hunt,I'm packing up my shit and going to the house or somewhere else to hunt. I've said it before with all the turkey hunters in this country,how does Dave not have a million subs already?!?!

You ever noticed how less skiddish deer outside of the deep south are?
@MarkSmith-qk2rl2 жыл бұрын
It’s not that our deer are skittish, it’s the pressure ! I have a place in Louisiana and they’re not skittish. I have a lot of deer but I don’t get to see them making rubs and scrapes and I don’t hear the vocalization like I do up north !
@hardearned2 жыл бұрын
I live in true south Alabama. (Midstate 30 minutes from Florida line) Harvesting a mature doe or buck with a bow is a huge accomplishment. These deer walk through the woods looking up I kid you not however my lease an hour and a half north is the opposite. Hunting in the other states Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri etc. it’s “easier” to harvest a mature deer. Comment what you want but that goes for turkey as well
@backroadoutdoors142 жыл бұрын
Come to indiana public and try to kill a mature deer. Not being a meat head here by any means. I’ve been doing it for 18 years, i get nervous when i see a big doe cause there’s a good chance she’s gonna blow the woods out. Now the turkeys are pretty easy to kill, if you don’t over call, I’ll give ya that one lol

It was a fun hunt to be on with you Dave. Sounds like there were as many woodies as deer ! My grandfather called em squealers ! Isn’t it fun watching deer when they’re not harassed ! I’m fortunate to have a place I own in Louisiana that is notorious for big deer and have taken several Louisiana record book deer off of ! I also hunt northeast Nebraska and I had never seen anything like what I get to see up there ! Big deer making rubs and scrapes big fights and the vocalization of deer from bucks grunting bleating and snort wheezes to the does that make so many different sounds communicating with each other and their fawns. There’s one bottom that all the fawns go when they are knocked off their moms are their moms have been taken. It sound like a sheep farm with all of them bleating continuously ! It’s funny you bleat and ten would come running looking for you ! I turkey hunt up there too, it’s loaded with birds. A lot of hybrids but they gobble just as good as any of them lol ! Hope we get to see you take your target on that place !!

You can hear a long ways on a crisp morning. But the walk wasn't overwhelming- just lots and zig zagging through the swamps to hit the beaver dams to get where you where going.
