I wanted a pair, but every review I read was not very good. I was in Chamonix at the Salomon store and had a chance to handle Kilian Jornet's high altitude mountaineering boot, it was similar in the boot inside a boot design, the outer boot having built in crampons. Totally a one off boot, but it was amazing to handle and seeing how light Salomon was able to create a high altitude boot for his fast ascents. Near the end, while Salomon had the boots still on their site, they couldn't give them away even at a huge discount. Even Salomon realized they weren't very good. I did this climb in 2017 in my Salomon X Alps. Same crampons, using their flex feature with those boots. I really miss being there, can't wait to get back.

It must feel so good to finally be allowed up there again and it looked so quiet too! So jealous, wish I could be out there right now :(

Back in the 80's there was a boot system similar to this. Onesport was the company that made them, and I believe that the model was called the Presles.

@@DaveSearle thank you 🙏 I’ve really been trying to see if the petzl aluminium leopard crampons fit these but can’t see a definitive answer anywhere. I’m guessing if it’s the same fastening system they should?

hi, nice videos man, one question? sold separately or in one piece?
@DaveSearle
@DaveSearle 4 жыл бұрын
Hey. The run in shoe is sold separately but the boot only come with the shoe, not by itself.

Thanks for the review. I'm interested in these boots as I have Achilles Tendonitis so can't wear mountaineering boots. Do you think it's OK to do technical climbing sections in them with crampons on ?
@DaveSearle
@DaveSearle 3 жыл бұрын
I’d say these are very bad if you have Achilles problems actually. Better to have something bigger and stiffer. Try them out in a shop and you’ll see…

@@DaveSearle sorry what I meant is that the collar on normal boots digs into the back of my tendon and causes a lot of pain, so I'm resigned to wearing trainers/ shoes etc. I'm not looking for ankle/tendon support, just a shoe with an intigrated gaiter that's also compatible with crampons.

Might work but these boots do rub my Achilles quite badly. Worth trying them in the shop

How is it for climbing ? I guess the overall size is bigger than a classic alpinism shoe and maybe you are less precise.
@DaveSearle
