Love your vids Dave and Camera Lady. I know it’s a big ask, but is it possible to set up a camera and do a timelapse video of these funnel webs actually webbing up their enclosure?

Thank you for a great demonstration on how to observe and 'read your spider'. Every posture and movement tells a story, and each spider was different. You know a lot about their behavior and can anticipate their reactions; you make it easy to understand. This was a fascinating video.

Here in Australia, the Sydney Funnel-Web spider is the most dangerous and they are super aggressive. Very scary spider. Those Japanese Funnel-webs are crazy big. I'd move out if I lost that in the house 💀. You have nerves of steel! Facts!

I think they are stunning to look at, I love the black ones, huntsmen frighten me to death I think it is the teleportation they just appear from one side to the other side of the enclosure before you can blink! I love the variety of your collection, I do miss the T seladonia they are so beautiful, when one your egg sac hatched she had so many babies and she keep closing her little hatch with her back leg, you were in love with them, once I get more experience and rob a bank I will be getting some! I upgraded the homes of 1 Brachypelma Boehmei, 1 Brachypelma Hamorii and 1 Pterinopelma Sazimai today in the way you do it and it went calm, in order and stress free for anyone 😂. I transferred the Brachypelma Hamorii into a kind of transport cup and she walked in it very gently and did not not move while I moved that cup over to her new larger enclosure.Amazing . (To general readers: don't copy please- i have a degree in animal behaviour and have had over 40 years of experience in observing behaviour and would not have done it that way if I would have seen any unsettled reaction in her.She was calm walking into the cup, didn't moved a limp while sitting inside and being gently moved into the larger enclosure and walked out calmy.)

Good to see an update on the funnel webs! Regarding how a few just naturally perish, and that's just the way of things, there's an analogy among us record collectors: Of course we like to keep our records in good condition, but when I hear people fretting about some tiny blemish in the vinyl, I like to tell them, if you've never dropped a record before, you're bot a real collector!

This one reminds me of several lines from the movie "Arachnophobia." Mostly where he says "Most people have that switch in their brain that helps them overcome their fear of Spiders, I don't have that switch!" I know I shouldn't fear them, I know. But my body doesn't listen to my mind. It is ready to run. Watching you is really the only way I'd want to observe them.

Asian Macrothele species are known to be in what's known in the hobby as "medically significant". But there are no confirmed deaths. May 2000, a four- year-old boy was bitten over left middle toe by a hidden spider in his shoes when he was wear- ing them. About 10 minutes later, severe pain over left foot and muscle cramping over left lower leg with mild claudication were noted. There was an obvious red line extended from the wound to inguinal area and abdominal pain was also noted. Two hours later, general weakness, poor appetite, drowsiness, drooling, vomiting and chills happened. He was sent to emergency department ten hours later. Physi- cal examination showed tachycardia ,a target lesion over left middle toe and rigidity over left lower leg. Bilateral inguinal lymph nodes en- largement and mild abdominal tenderness were noted. Lab data showed leukocytosis and mild hypoglycemia. 10% Calcium gluconate, glu- cose-containing fluid, antihistamine and prophy- lactic antibiotics were prescribed. Patient was discharged under stable condition 48 hours later. The spider was finally confirmed as Macrothele sp. Yeah, no joke spiders, but that's not to say a bite can kill.

@@lurkmoar3926 The subject of Macrothele venom almost inevitably comes up every time Dave gives us a update on his project, so I keep that on hand for the curious/hysterical comments! Really there's not a lot of information on medically significant spider venom unless it's the usual suspects such as Latrodectus, Atrax and Phoneutria, however I did read an article about Macrothele raveni venom being studied for its effects on cancer cells...

I was a bit concerned when you put the water bowl inside the plastic box, so close to the spider. I've seen 16" long duckbill nose pliers that are ideal for situations like this.

Hi Dave, I appreciate the informative and well-presented videos you create, which are beneficial for newcomers to the hobby. I'm particularly interested in the enclosures you use. Would you mind sharing links to them with your subscribers? On another note, I couldn't help but notice that you've acquired a "BB Gun" for making breathing holes in your enclosures. It seems your aim might be a bit off on some attempts! lol 👍👍

As usual, great video Dave & Camera Lady ! 👏 Speaking of ladies with long spinnerets, which species could a neophyte turn to to familiarize themselves with this type of spider, before considering Linothele maintenance ? 🤔

There’s nothing really you just need to gain experience with as much as possible for all spiders
