Awesome review! Just what I was looking for. Unfortunately I just installed the cheap Dozyant thermometer from amazon. FORTUNATELY, the tru-tel requires a bigger hole , not smaller, so I just need to enlarge the 3/8” hole and be good to go!

FYI: I have two of these. 1/2” conduit nuts fit the threads perfectly and are dirt cheap.

Warren Allred just get the Maverick. The Tel-Tru looks sweet and is accurate, but it’s not needed.

Lots of people still use the old mechanicals just for a quick visual and they look nice like the old style tachs on cars vs. the digital ones they used for a year or so.

Coach Kevin Watson Tel-tru. They aren’t the cheapest, but they are good.

Coach Kevin Watson i think they are all basically the same, they just have different color dial faces. The only option you’ll have to consider is if you want a short or long stem. I got mine from 4thegrill.com. Good selection.
