Hi Dave, love the pancake wreath because in Canada most homes have screen doors. My problem with wreaths,just learning since pandemic, I use too much mesh. It is not easy to get here. Have had to ordercsome from Joann's or Amazon. Prices really are different. Love the wreath it is beautiful.🤗
@DavesWreaths2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary. I totally agree with what you said in your comment. I live in Canada as well, and yes, having those large full mesh wreaths sometimes don't fit on entry ways with the screen doors. This pancake method is perfect to deal with that. I also have a hard time finding mesh, I usually try for Michael's with their coupons, and there's also some smaller shops online that are Canadian based that sell the mesh and other items for wreath making. Thanks for watching and for the wonderful comment. Take care.

Have you done this with the 6 inch dollar tree mesh? The bigger mesh is only at expensive craft stores. I'm going to try it by using my leftover different color mesh from making other wreaths. Might be pretty with different colors
@DavesWreaths2 жыл бұрын
Hi Susan, I have not done this method with 6" deco mesh from the Dollar Tree, but it would work, your little "pancakes" would be much smaller and you would need to have more pipe cleaner stems. It would totally work and look good with multiple colours. Happy wreath making.
@angelaw2606 Жыл бұрын
Love your wreaths. What type of hot glue do you use? I am looking for a strong heat resistant hot glue.
@DavesWreaths Жыл бұрын
Hi Angela, I just use the dollar store hot glue and it seems to work great for my region. There are some more heat resistant hot glue sticks from Gorilla Glue...or you could see if Surebonder has that as well. Hope that helps. 😊
@MrsPFenzel Жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, I realized yesterday that my wreath has 7 sections not 6, so I thought all 14 wreaths were 6 sections, but apparently not. I think this throws off the equation on the measurements. So I didn't realize this until I started putting it together. What is your suggestion ? Do i cut the decomesh into shorter pieces? Thanks for your input.
@DavesWreaths Жыл бұрын
Hi there, I have seen some that have more sections as well, I just use the ones from the Dollar Tree as they are inexpensive and readily available. For your seven sectioned frame, I would still do the 6 pipe cleaners on the outside and six on the inside, ignoring the cross bars (if you want the same effect that I have in my video). If you want a more dense pancake wreath, I would do what I did in my video with a stem at each cross bar and one in the middle - this will create more "pancakes" and a more dense wreath. Just keep in mind, you'll be using more deco mesh with this. Hope that makes sense and helps. Take care. 😊

I'm new to deco mesh and wreath making, however I love it! I love your videos and have learned a lot. However, I started my adventure using dollar store mesh and all it does it fray, what am I doing wrong
@DavesWreaths Жыл бұрын
Hi there. That's great that you are starting out with wreath making. You are not doing anything wrong, the quality of the deco mesh from the Dollar Tree has dwindled a bit over the last little while. Also, deco mesh does have a tendency to fray, it's just the nature of the beast. You can always use methods like the curly method or the folded ruffle method to hide as much of the fraying as possible. Also, there is a burning tool that you can use that will seal the mesh and stop it from fraying - you do this to cut your mesh in lieu of using scissors. Hope that helps a bit. 😊
@tabtabmatter5589 Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, I just ordered my hot knife and some better quality mesh, can't wait.
@barbmelton86122 жыл бұрын
Dave, could you make a pancake wreath using 6 inch mesh?
@DavesWreaths2 жыл бұрын
Hi Barb, yes you can, the size would be smaller than you see in this video and you will need to add more stems on your wreath frame, that are closer together, to make sure you have coverage. Have fun wreath making. 😊

In making a Dollar Tree 6” mesh wreath, how long do you cut the mesh?
@DavesWreaths6 күн бұрын
Hi there, if you're using the DT 6" deco mesh, then I would cut them at about 20" lengths, depending on how full you would like your pancake bundle to be - you could go even longer if you wanted. 😊

Do I have the wrong deco mesh because mine keeps unraveling and is very difficult😢
@DavesWreaths Жыл бұрын
Hi Inita, deco mesh does fray a bit, it's just the "nature of the beast" when it comes to deco mesh. There are also some very stiff deco mesh out there. That could be the case with yours. I'm not sure what brand or material you have, but that could be the case. Hope it gets better for you. Take caer.
