How to turn off green lights on harman kardon allure?
@AskDaveTaylor2 жыл бұрын
I don't believe you can, which is annoying. I have learned to use opaque tape (electrician's black tape works well) to make tiny squares and cover up lights on some devices. I wish more vendors had a "no illumination" or "night mode" option.

How do you think is the sound quality in comparison to Aura Studio 2? The latter seems to have bigger internal space so is AS2 superior?
@snoopy30605 жыл бұрын
Aura has more space, bigger subwoofer there is a bigger subwoofer enclosure so comparison between the two are going to be a world of difference, like I use the allure for the kitchen I work in because of its size and it's not overpowering the customer isn't going to be jamming to my music with me but the aura would be perfect for your room or livingroom

I don't have wifi .. would this work without wifi?
@AskDaveTaylor3 жыл бұрын
It would work as a speaker, but you wouldn't be able to use Alexa at all without wifi.

I like the way you review. Keep up the good work.

Looks pretty amazing - definitely an eye-catcher. You'd said that you'd checked out (and I've seen your review of) the Sonos One - does it provide the device to device support? Sample: the "Drop In" and "Call" functions from Echo to Echo unit really are amazing and something we've been wanting as a family for decades. The Sonos One that we bought (while awesome sounding and does provide basic Alexa functionality) doesn't provide support to these vital functions. Also, the lighting that you're referring to - are you talking about the lighting that activates upon Alexa interaction or something else? Thanks for the review and answers, Dave!

Have to admit, I'm not familiar with Drop In, but a lot of this depends on Amazon's support: Same with speaker groups, which I *wish* included non-Amazon Alexa speakers. In terms of the lighting, there's a subtle light the illuminates the top portion of the speaker, really hard to show in a video, but very cool in a dark room.

Does it work with Audible? Sonos One doesn't!
@AskDaveTaylor6 жыл бұрын
Didn't try that, but basically Amazon's creating a second class of devices where they work with Alexa but they're not actually Amazon devices. I'd check with Amazon for this question.

How about free commercial songs as others offer??

I don't understand your question, Tom.

The audio quality is amazing as one would expect from Harmon Kardon. What is disappointing is the integration with Alexa/Echo is extremely basic lacking most features one would consider standard on any Echo enabled device. The device does not support multi-room audio nor are you able to customize the settings at all. No ability to enable a sound when you wake Alexa. No ability to customize the sounds at all. The HK app is for setup only. It has no customization settings aside from device name. Settings within the Alexa web page for the device are missing all customization settings. I was also surprised that HK support was completely unfamiliar with the product. I'm hopeful HK does some work on this.

Concur, but I believe that's more an Amazon API issue than a HK issue. Hopefully they'll just keep making it better and better, but if Amazon makes the third-party Alexa speakers as good as the Echo, well, why buy an Echo? :-)
@kapsvideos7 жыл бұрын
Actualy, the Amazon API is fully open and available to all. There is is also a development api in AWS where you can build your own app. All the functionality is there, HK just needs to implement. It's almost like they launched a beta from a functionality standpoint.

I’ve got the Harmon Kardon Invoke and that also has stellar sound quality. It looks like these guys are the ones to go to for high end smart speakers. It would be interesting to see Google open up its Assistant to third party vendors; this review and my own experiences with the Cortana speaker tell me a gAssistant H/K smart speaker would be a great product too.

Still no usb stick support !!
@AskDaveTaylor6 жыл бұрын
Correct. Not sure why I'd want that, though, if you can push content wirelessly?
@____________63246 жыл бұрын
Well you have people who stick music from the laptop to usb stick and listen in the car. it would have been more convenient if you could also connect the USB stick to this Harman/Kardon wireless speakers.
@____________63246 жыл бұрын
even the cheapest wireless speaker has usb stick support.
@AskDaveTaylor6 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Never really thought of that use case, and my impression of TVs and similar with USB are that they're roundly ignored by customers. Heck some vendors don't actually *implement* the USB anyway.
@AskDaveTaylor6 жыл бұрын
And on that one, I review a LOT of speakers and can't recall the last one that had a USB input. Perhaps we're looking at different types of devices?

Not a good review !!!! did not even Turn the light show on !!!!!which is only about 50% of why people would spend more money to buy this speaker,
@AskDaveTaylor6 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? There's no "light show". The reasons people are interested in this speaker are the combination of its excellent sound and the inclusion of Alexa. Go look on the Harmon Kardon site and read through the listed features and customer Q&A.
