Ich hab mir auch nur gedacht : hä warum ist jetzt der Weihnachtsmann ein Kind lol
@katimczie22125 жыл бұрын
Most people nowadays tell their Kids about Santa...the Christkind is mostly known in the catholic Areas around Germany...like Bavaria for example. It depends where you come from and which story your parents know the best ;) My parents told me about the Christkind and the parents of my neighbor told her about Santa. So Santa and the Christkind shared a Street *lol* Btw Santa in Germany is "Der Weihnachtsmann" and if it's translated in English: The Christmasman...so Santa sounds much cooler ;)
@evaundele1235 жыл бұрын
We grew up knowing that our parents bring the presents and I know that quite a few of my friends also knew it all along. 😄
WOAH! Jake has my accent! It's so strange seeing people from the North of the UK/Merseyside online! Thanks for this Dave! Really cool.

Ye it was kind of refreshing seeing someone from the North of England for once cos whenever i see videos like this it tends to be people from down South, not that i have anything against that it's i relate more with people from the North in terms of like slang/dialect and stuff lol
@miyo19len965 жыл бұрын
Concerning the discussion about the "Christkind"🎅: It really depends on the region you're living in (South or North Germany) and if you are catholic or protestant. ;) Luther introduced the idea of a "Christkind" whereas in the catholic tradition I think St. Nikolaus is more important. (Verbessert mich falls ich falsch liege.) Later the idea of Santa Clause was introduced though we call him "Weihnachtsmann" (literally "Christmas-man") Nowadays it's not so easy to distinguish between those traditions. One catholic friend of mine believed in the "Christkind" as a child whereas I being a protestant was never taught about any of that so... Yeah... Whoever made it this far without falling asleep: Congratulations! And I really loved the video! 😂💕

For the Christmas thing, Its exactly the same for Mexico (german Christmas) the main event is the 24th called "noche buena" (lit Good/heavenly night) when you have dinner and usually stay up to at least 00:00 (12:00 am) to receive Christmas. The 25th you get the day off and have leftovers or visit people that couldn't be with you on the 24th, oh and open the gifts but thats all, the main event is the 24th.

In most Hispanic cultures people celebrate Christmas on the 24th as well. I’m Mexican and we have parties, gatherings with the family making tamales on the 24th. When it hits midnight(25th) we all hug and say felicidades( congratulations) and start handing out our gifts. The next day we go back to eat food that was left over or just stay home and do nothing.

In the Philippines, we also celebrate Christmas on the 24th midnight. We have this thing called Noche Buena. It's basically like our dinner right before 12 mn where we start to celebrate and this goes on till daybreak. We also have this Simbang Gabi, a Christmas tradition which translates to Night Mass but we go to church at 3 am where there's no daylight. This starts from December 16 til the 24th but on its last day, we call it Misa de Gallo meaning Rooster's Mass to signify the last day before Christmas.

Yess UK! Shame about the flag but i saw Dave's comment and many people do put that old flag as they don't know but it's fine you'll know now what the right flag is 🇬🇧Also loved the video and love learning about different cultures it's amazing!
