Regarding your comment about feeling like the 'weird uncle', I will share my input. I went to Japan and taught English and felt real adventure and excitement in my life as I discovered a new culture and met many great people. I moved back to Canada to do a masters and I eventually I was very lucky and landed a job. Now i work in an office, doing mildly interesting work and basically live the exact same day over and over again. While this life is comfortable, it is very boring. I yearn for the old days in Japan living a true adventure. While it was not always comfortable or easy in Japan it was very fulfilling knowing I am truly living life. So embrace the chaotic adventurous life style, knowing you are doing what many wish they could do.

Its nice to see someone a little older than me with such a relaxed mindset to being single in your 30s. I'm having an existential crisis. Just relaxing and travelling the world, still exploring. Really inspiring to see.

From one Dave to another, I'm 46, also did the ESL thing in Asia for years, then returned to my home country. Started career retraining a year ago (finish next month) which has been a long, hard road. Don't let your age, and situation get you down. Things will happen when they happen.

I'm 44 yrs old and wish I had more friends like you. I'm in the same boat you are and all my friends are married with kids in their career. I guess I need to move to Thailand to meet more like minded people. Thanks for the video! Good luck!

Hi, very nice of you acknowledging the people that only worked for a month by giving their expertise. Very nice of you and shows maturity. Also like people say that month its what sends the project to another level and also you dont pay for time, but for knowledge.

Hang in there Dave. I am glad you had a few good years working as a Jet in Japan. It is a wonderful experience. It is a rough adjustment afterward, but I know you will make it and survive.

38 unmarried, definitely feels as though we slip between the cracks, you definitely have a better shot than me being in Asia though, I don't say that from a point of view of malice it's just that in the west at our age and unmarried with no official career outside a job it's even worse than being in Asia in that situation. EDIT: Missed the whole point of the video but posting anyway lol

you're thinking of "The Ship of Theseus" which wasn't built in the bottle. but every board taken off it will be stored in a different room of "The Grand Hotel" until all rooms are filled.

Being single in your 30's as a man is not a big deal. Women will always be there, why force something? Any guy with a semblance of a personality and confidence can find a partner. As for being the weird uncle, 90% of people in this world are boring, don't fret doing you. Life about a roller coaster or beautiful poem, not a disney ride.
