I probably need a new ABR1 wire bridge or the saddles replaced. Took my guitar to a highly recommended shop in my area. They have lots of fans on the my les paul forum. The tech cut these pretty deep V notches in my bridge. Don't know why he thought it was necessary. I originally had concerns about the nut being too low. My concern is if you cut a slot in the saddle and need more adjustment you may not be able to flip the saddle if the slot is slightly off center. Flipping it could create an issue moving the string away from where you want it.

I purchased a Gotoh GE103T-B, which I believe has a 12" radius. I believe the Les Paul knockoff guitar I put this bridge on has a 10" neck radius. I've been having some trouble intonating a few of the individual strings at the 12th fret (#9 D'addario EXL120's). The intonation is about 2 bars sharp at the 12th fret on the tuner on some of the strings. It seems like the low E is the worst, with the saddle adjusted all the way bottoming out, then the D and the G, which do have some additional room for saddle adjustment. The A, B, and high E strings seem to be consistently intonating without much of a problem, and those strings have some adjustment left as well. I theorize that this problem with intonation is possibly caused by the difference between the bridge radius being 12", and the fret board having a 10" radius. Do you know if this is possibly the cause of my issues with intonation, and do you know if I can remedy this condition by filing down the grooves on the saddles, and increasing the depth of the grooves on some strings slightly so the span of strings at the bridge forms a 10" radius? I am not sure whether this 12" versus 10" radius is a possible reason for my intonation being off, or whether the difference between a 12" and 10" radius wouldn't be enough of a variance to cause an issue with intonation.

Someone doesn't know what a guitar needs for proper sustain, tone, and intonation- a sharp knife edge for the string to ride over, or the opposite of a roller bridge. If you want to kill your sound, put a roller bridge on. Roller bridges are for guitars with otherwise incurable tuning issues with a bigsby or lyre style trem. But I really don't think there are any incurable tuning issues with those trems.
@chadcampbell2982
@chadcampbell2982 6 жыл бұрын
Rollers are the way to go. Some would say it kills your sustain but it's just in there head, theirs not really a difference in sound between the roller bridges and the horrible knife edged bridges.

I don't know who the guy is who brought that Gibson in to get fixed up but I would be really pissed off if I'd paid Gibson USA prices for a guitar in that kind of condition which needed to be set with the hardware in ludicrous positions just to make it playable. No wonder why Gibson is getting pasted all over the internet for its lack of quality control.
