Overwatch animated shorts are fun to watch but sadly I'm not a fun of the game or any shooters in particular because 1. I'm getting sea sick/nausea when playing shooters and 2. Not really good at it. just prefer playing RPGs and TPS like Final Fantasy and MGSV.

honestly I had no idea when watching the live stream, I usually stay away from any spoilers until an official trailer or anything and I also haven't vistied the OW offical homepage in motnhs so I had no idea what the new character was about I had no idea they had the homepage "hacked" so I honestly thought it was a technical failure and I laughed so hard at home about blizzard fucking up the presentation when suddenly the stream goes completely nuts with all the flashing images and slowly Sombras logo gets clearer and clearer, you hear her voice and I'm like "Waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittt.................... no way" AND BOOM there she is and I'm fucking flabbergasted, mouth wide open. Way to announce a character, and ignorance is bliss in this case

The level of programming and technical thought required to set up and time the LED system like that, especially with the amount of DMX data going to the motorized instruments, is insane. I aspire to work on the tech team of one of these presentations someday. Also, I hope you've pursued that interest! I was in that room when it happened. And the goosebumps were at a maximum. Also most people knew it was Sombra so it went exactly like this: 1) On the first glitch, people went oh no that's so bad! 2) People murmured to each other, themselves: Sombra! You could hear it roll through the room because so many of us were saying it. 3) Everyone went apeshit when the glitch was obviously made up. 4) Epic experience ensued

TF2 got a lot of hype with it's updates and even if they would make an update now everyone would lose their mind, and it's a decade old game. It has lost it's hype and I doubt it will get anything on this level ever again, but it was because of the creators only going for balances and OW2

And the lack of Zen/Lucio lore has kept Overwatch players waiting for years, some of them even left due to toxicity and only skins for event, the hype factor is what keeping games going, but since Sombra, there isn't a big hype until OW2 launches, which is kinda sad tbh

I still remember to this day when the Overwatch devs when the game first came out put together an ARG in the game! I still remember fondly how the community back then were putting together theories as to who this Sombra was? And the build up to who Sombra is was insane! I will forever look back fondly on this reveal and the communities hunt for the lore behind the character! No character reveal will in my eyes top this!
