As.a theatrical producer who has worked with magicians for the better part of a decade, I can attest that it is an uphill climb. Most magicians simply have little concept of theatre. Most are "jugglers", as David calls them, or variety acts, and that has limited power on stage. Ever seen an 80-minute quick-change artist show? Theatres may not always understand magic, but they do understand story & character, and that is the heart of performance art. Cirque purchased The Illusionists because they saw that Tim got half of it (character) right. When they figure out how to tell an actual story (theme) with it, we may see something really special. Derren Brown, Max Maven, Max Howard, they understood this on various levels. I'm glad to see David does as well. Would love to see his show on this side of the pond.

Thank you for your kind comments. It is a subject that I push very hard in my work. I will pass on your comments to David.
