For whatever reason, most filmmakers take great liberties with the history when they make a biblical movie. For those of us who know the word, it usually isn’t so bad since we recognize the points at which the movie differs from the text - even though I personally don’t like it. I wish they wouldn’t stray from the facts for the sake of those who aren’t familiar with the actual details.

I've never seen this version. Albeit there is some basic truth to this sad story of King David's sin with Bathsheba, the rest that is embellished is a given n bc I've ALWAYS KNOWN the disappointment isn't a distraction. My faith is not diminished. The embellished parts are a example of life as it is today, thus leaning on our Heavenly Padre via His Begotten Son our Saviour Yeshua 🙏. "Sra Isa"

Hey, this is at least better than the version that had a horribly miscast Richard Gere as David. That was almost as bad as Keanu Reeves as Buddha though of course nothing can beat John Wayne as....Genghis Khan!!! 🤣😐 Interesting interpretation of David still suffering from PTSD and regrets with regards to his war with Saul and the deaths of not just Saul but also his friend Jonathan. Peck handled this aspect very well, but sadly the insipid loooove story is rather meh. The king feeling entitled to have someone else's wife is not a formula for sympathy IMO. The movie tries every cliche in Hollywood's arsenal but nope, not working for me.

IF one reads in between the lines about this story in Heavenly Padre's Word, the romance is there. Hollywood has ALWAYS embellished, filled in the gaps & romanticized. At least in this version, there isn't profanity & raw sex scenes as in the newer versions of said movies. IF we're open minded, we'll allow the Holy Spirit to guide us to research the complete truth. Peck was a great actor loved him in moby dick and many more don't know if he was of Jewish decent but he sounded like a new yorker in this one😀

Wow. The dialogue here is like a bad porn movie and what an insult to God it must be. If you study 2 Samuel 11, David chose NOT to go to war, even though it was his job to be there at that time (11:1). Because he was not where he was supposed to be, in 11:4 it says his staff "took" her. In Hebrew, that is forcibly took her. It was not her wanting him to look at her. It was not her wanting to be with him, especially because she was super lonely and wanting sex, as this movie suggests. Then David keeps going in his debauchery and literally sets Uriah up to cover it. But Uriah is very righteous. So David had him killed. All of these things, the Lord considered evil (v.27). Still, David did not repent. Nathan the prophet comes to him and literally uncovers David's secrets. From that time on, David's house was cursed (12:10-12). That is when David repented and was forgiven. It's a sordid tale but not the schmultzie romance that is portrayed here.

Why watch then? You miss the whole point of these movies. Hollywood has always embellished. For many, it awakens the need to research. There is no need to fret so.
