As a member of the church my whole life I have never heard the church ever begging. Where did you get this information, it's not completely correct? Most members are respectful to ppl who come out. It's sad that their are members that are so disrespectful to lgbtq ppl, they make our church sound bad. Everyone finds the bad in things easier, rather than the good.
@erikm8372 Жыл бұрын
Every religious organization has its flaws and its shining examples of humanity; unfortunately, some of those flaws are the absolutel worst of what humanity has to offer. Not solely the Mormon religion, rather all religions have their bad seeds. And some of those are truly toxic people. I don’t doubt there are people trying to influence or persuade David, because he admittedly went for counseling, to speak with some church “leaders” near his home, of his own accord. Well, apparently that went about as well as… not going at all. Lol. Wouldn’t surprise me if some of those church people still tried to communicate with him in negative ways today. And if he blocks them they likely find him. I hope not, but that’s a possibility, given that he said before how he misguidedly sought their “support”.
@ozzzo734511 ай бұрын
Used him? He was an active member even before he became famous. Begging? Where do you take that info from? The church wouldn't ever do that despite he/she is famous or not. After he became famous he had more opportunities to come out, he started to be surrounded by many people that tempted (show business gay celebrities), etc. He just couldn't stand it. Now, his whole family is church inactive, especially his mother. He is living his moment of fame!

I left my religion years ago. I was raised Catholic. For me it was simple. There was no place for me in the Church. They made no bones about it. Being Gay, like being straight or Bi or anywhere along the spectrum is a part of your very soul. You cannot change it no matter how much you might want to, no more than you can change your natural hair or eye color. Trying to live within a religion that does not recognize this will only compromise the promise of happiness and fulfillment that you, as a child of God, are entitled to.

I have so much respect for David Archuleta identifying as "queer" and publicly saying that he doesn't know where he falls on the spectrum of sexuality. I'm the same way, and I think it's important to think of sexuality more as a spectrum than clear-cut lines of same-sex attraction, opposite-sex attraction, bisexuality, and asexuality. Queer is a good catchall term- it's the least label-like label that I could find for myself, and I really enjoying hearing a person in the public eye using the term in interviews.

eh, he’s doing it out of a trauma response. he’s talked before about how the church was big into the “don’t say gay” bs where they made the word sound like it was a slur. doesn’t make him any less gay. he’s already been using it more recently and talks about homosexuality too

@@hannigramhannibal2335 Whatever the reason, I found it very relatable. I have a few friends who identified generally as "queer" before becoming more comfortable with using certain labels, for various reasons. And others, including myself, who decided queer was the best way to describe our experience and have settled on using it. Ultimately our identities are valid no matter what words we use 💖 Glad to hear that David Archuleta has made such great progress accepting himself after growing up with the church's intolerance.

Sweet David, you certainly have a journey you must travel. I am staunch LDS. I love the gospel. It's who I am and love. God loves you kiddo. You have your agency to decide if you choose Him or yourself. One can be gay yet not act upon it. Difficult, I know. We all want to be loved and accepted. We want that one person we feel most comfortable with. I've been married and divorced. I thought I would find someone else but it didn't happen. Took time but I've been able to accept my journey. I have missed the companionship of a partner but I had to choose between Father and myself. I chose Father because He Can give me what I need which is better than what I want. God be with you kiddo. People are evolutionary. They evolve. You evolved into a gay man. Big deal. Some end up liking girls. Some boys. It really doesn’t make any difference. Your role here isn’t to get married and have children unless you restrict all other accomplishments you could make. You have talent. You are well known. You can do a lot to make living easier for others like yourself and you already have. Continue with it. Not everyone is meant to marry and have a family. Some are cut out to be married and some aren’t. Of those some are meant to have children. Others aren’t. You see too many examples where family life has failed millions of people. Too many divorces are happening and the children are the sufferers. Go on with your life as you are. If your church wants to embrace you then let it. If not then don’t feel you are left begging for validation. You can establish your own validation by leading a responsible life.

David knows that being gay or lesbian is not a sin, but doing something beyond that, like immorality or having sex with the same gender or out of marriage is a big sin, I hope we know our true identity, that we are all children of God, please know who we really are, same sex attraction is just a challenge for everyone that we need to overcome, that sometimes if we dont know how to deal with it we will just give in to it, and that will lead somebody to belive that, that is his/her true identity but in the end it's not, because God create only man and woman and they can only have sexual relationship when they got married. DAVID I KNOW IT'S DEPPRESSING FOR YOU to stay in the church but I hope atleast stay in what you believe, and don't let the world overcome you. Yeah staying away from the church will give you happiness but the question is how long? Until the grave? You know that the joy being with God is eternal.

And same sex attraction, mind you, is not a challenge for "everyone" as you said. not everybody is attracted to the same sex or was sexually attracted to the same sex at some point in their life and had to overcome it. And you people are just weird. How can you say being gay is not a sin but sleeping with the same sex is. It's like saying being a thief is not a sin but stealing is... 😂 Like if you don't steal are you a thief?! Wtf! Stop trying to sound slightly woke and be the proud bigot that you are. 😂 🤷♀️💔

You must be a Mormon. David is now coming to terms with his sexual life. If he chooses to embrace another man it’s totally natural for him. Not for you maybe but for him. He isn’t supposed to live the life of a monk just because he happens to like other men. He doesn’t need you telling him to come back to a church that will never accept him. We are evolutionary. He has evolved as a gay man. Let it alone. He can’t change that nor can you.

@smokerscough29072 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I’ve never liked or embraced the word as it’s been used against me and others as a slur my entire life. However, I do see its purpose in being reclaimed by others for themselves when they’re feeling less certain of their own identity. For David, he appears to use it to avoid identifying fully with a specific label due to his internalized issues from his church/religion. He’ll get back to using gay eventually.

I’ve learned for myself that nobody is actually gay. It is just temptation-and we all are susceptible to our own temptations. The adversary confuses our perception of identity. There are seducing spirits of lust and curiosity that attach themselves to us and we mistake their feelings as our own. When we recognize the lies and cast the spirits out, that is when we are free. Embracing the temptation and giving in not only binds us down, but gives the devil great power over us. We have to overcome lust and the temptation of the world to be free.

The Christian Bible ( not Mormon Bible) says that homosexuality is sin. If you want to be saved, you have to turn away from sin and receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Following the Father God and the Lord Jesus Christ requires turning your back on sin.

You are a Mormon. Who cares?? Not God. Not me. So who are you to tell others how to live their lives properly? You have no genuine dogma that anyone can follow that guarantees a good life or bad. The existence after life is not the hostage of the Mormons. It is available to all. Get that through your head.

@@cindyp9 well goody for you. If everything was as black or white as you seem to think it is then you would hardly need a Bible to refer to.
@frankmarter68452 жыл бұрын
According to the Bible there is a multiplicity of sins no one seems to care about such as wearing cotton with wool or divorcing and remarrying if your spouse is still living. You pick and choose your “sins” to rail against.

You're missing the point! The source of David's confusion has been dogmatic rules from the church. David is less confused now because he has allowed himself to accept and love who he is! It's the criticizers and bullies that live in confusion!

Very sad that David was another victim of the Mormon church’s bigotry. Many people (gay and straight) are able to break free of Mormon oppression and live happy lives - I hope that is what the future holds for him.

Just don't drink the Kool aid David. We are gay. No different than other people except who we are attracted to. We want to be treated the same, respect and equal. It's what we fought for and some have died for. But please let's not go down the whole queer road thing. We are not queer. We don't need queer schooling or queer related courses. Makes us sound like a bunch of oddball. I'm gay. Not queer. Please don't set the lgbtq community back 50 years. Who the hell identifies as queer. It's ridiculous. We fought so hard to not be looked at and not using the term queer. Queer means odd. Please don't mix up gay and queer. Watching people on tv with their queer theory bs makes me sick.
