The song has the most beautiful story, while David Bowie was living in Berlin in the 70s, he saw a couple kissing by the Berlin Wall. And he saw that action as a courageous one, he saw 2 people defying the whole concept the Wall was built for, he saw them not caring about the atrocities the Wall represented. And just kissing by it. Instead of going to a park or on the river side, they just felt like kissing by the wall. And that made them heroes at that day.

Yes, but why is it that "nothing will keep them together', I read there was more to this story. ----- This song is about having a one-day fling. The two lovers were each bound to another person through the sacred vow of marriage. This is why nothing with keep them together. Through an odd turn of events they find each other together alone just for one day. Do they break their vows and make love? Or do they stay faithful and true? Bowie watches the lovers from afar "standing against the Berlin Wall" and tells the tale of two would-be lovers. "NOTHING, will keep us together" (Because they are each married to someone else). They plot as though no one will ever know. "We can beat them...." "We can be heroes... just for one day." (A one-day fling would be heroic).

This is related to perks of being a Wallflower and it’s just something I noticed. Patrick’s nickname is nothing The song has the lyric “nothing will drive them away”. Also, at the end of the movie, it's Patrick driving them away. And then when Charlie stops being friends with Sam and everyone else, it's only because of Patrick that they become close again. So you have "Nothing" driving them away at the end of the film, and "Nothing" keeping them together as well.

I remember the day he died vividly. I was a big fan already. I didn't know he died until the middle of the day, when my father picked me up from school to eat lunch home. There was a compilation of his songs on tv as a tribute, I watched it after eating and until the moment I had to leave to go back to school. The last song I got to see before leaving was heroes. My favourite. I think that at that moment, I realised what we lost... I realised that we lost a man that made history, a legend, a hero, forever gone... I cried in the car and on the way to the classroom, then again in the middle of my social studies class. Then, the fire alarm sounded in physics class. It's crazy how well you can remember a day when something meaningful happens... Almost four years ago already, rest in peace hero.

I AM!!!! I loved David Bowie and still do. He was such a great singer. A great musician. A grand gentleman. Different, yet handsome and polite. He was what all singers should use as their role model because David Bowie had class!! Sooooo Miss Him!

So I've read perks of being a wallflower couple years ago and i just watched the movie right now and im crying. Also this song reminds me of Moulin rouge
@ShiftyMcGoggles5 жыл бұрын
@Michelle Marx probably since moulin rouge was basically a dozen covers of decent songs. Like glee, which I hold to the same contempt. Personally, it felt incredibly lazy and poorly written for a musical.

@@ShiftyMcGoggles At first, I was confused, cuz I thought you were talking about the Tim Buckley song.

I rather like Moulin Rouge, but Ewan McGregor is in it and I love him, so I'm a bit biased

"Heroes" was recorded at Hansa Studio in Berlin. When Bowie recorded "Heroes," Hansa was 100 yards from The Berlin Wall. East German Border Guards with AK-47s over their shoulders could see everything. Bowie was inspired to write the lyrics to "Heroes" when he saw producer Tony Visconti and his lover embracing in front of The Wall. Amazing.

This makes me emotional, and I don't know why, and I don't really care. Who else came here after JoJo Rabbit?

This song feels like when you loose someone but your so shocked you don’t believe it, so you talk as if they’re still here. But then towards the end when he starts yelling, he realized and breaks down that the person he lost is gone.

I was with my high school sweetheart. Not when we were in high school, but years later when we were in our early 20s. We admitted our mutual infatuation and started genuinely trying to date. We connected on so much music. Bowie, queens of the Stone Age, Alice In Chains. We had a rough go of things, dating. Long distance, other people conniving, just a rough shake in general and we broke up. Years later she showed up at a show I was playing in her city, and it was like no time had passed. The love, the passion, it was all there. We had missed each other so much, and we resolved to make sure we spent some time together going forward. We never did. A few years ago, she passed. A suicide. I lamented not trying harder to spend time or keep in touch, reach out, but in the end it didn’t matter. I was thankful for knowing her and that’s what I choose to remember. We had a song and it randomly came up on the bar radio while I was trying to work the night I found out she left. I was holding it together pretty well til that happened and I had to go upstairs to cry my fucking eyes out. When I came back down, three members of the motorcycle club her parents were connected to were in the bar, at least one of them sporting a giant ass knife on his hip. I’m the bouncer so it’s my job to tell him to turn it in or leave. He got real shitty about it and as I was talking with them, I realized the correct way to deal with it: tell them “look, there’s three of you, I’m the only security, if you want to you can kick my ass. No doubt, I’m losing this fight. But then cops get called, you’ve got a dead bouncer on your hands, and you still don’t get to finish your drinks.” They were still assholes on the way out but it ended with them leaving and some part of me believes that my love had my back. Because she would and didn’t want to see me hurt even after death. This was the song, and it’s still always our song.
