Lyrics
I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing, will drive them away
We can beat them, just for one day
We can be heroes, just for one day
And you, you can be mean
And I, I'll drink all the time
'Cause we're lovers, and that is a fact
Yes we're lovers, and that is that
Though nothing, will keep us together
We could steal time, just for one day
We can be heroes, forever and ever
What d'you say?
I, I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim
Though nothing, nothing will keep us together
We can beat them, forever and ever
Oh we can be heroes, just for one day
I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing, will drive them away
We can be heroes, just for one day
We can be us, just for one day
I, I can remember (I remember)
Standing, by the wall (by the wall)
And the guns, shot above our heads (over our heads)
And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (nothing could fall)
And the shame, was on the other side
Oh we can beat them, forever and ever
Then we could be heroes, just for one day
We can be heroes
We can be heroes
We can be heroes, just for one day
We can be heroes
We're nothing, and nothing will help us
Maybe we're lying, then you better not stay
But we could be safer, just for one day
Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-oh-ohh, just for one day
About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

My wife and I found an abandoned dog at the river last summer. He’s a mut of some sort with two different colored eyes. He would not leave our side and was so skittish, ragged and hungry looking. This song was playing when we decided to take him home. His name is Bowie. He’s my best friend.

It's as good a take as any I've seen made about this song. It's a cool story bro LOL. I always just saw it as microscopic tiny little human having a macro-day which is possible for anyone. This song echoed from '77 all through the 80s (meaning it spawned lots of music based on the same feeling which I'm not a huge Bowie fan, but you have to give him his laurels, he earned)

This song, Regular Show taught me a lot. I was a troubled teen and my grandma saw the good in me and gave me chance. Her not giving up on me made me want to change my life. She passed away a month before the last episode of the Regular Show aired, so when I saw it and heard this song, all the emotions I held in came flowing out. She will forever be my hero. Thank you for not giving up on me. 😢❤

The guitar solo by Robert Fripp is just fantastic, two geniuses together. The emotion in the singing is amazing, not usual for a studio recording.

The German version of this song, also sung by Bowie, is even more emotional if you can believe it. I don’t even speak German but that version is something else. Supposedly he recorded this song with himself and the mic on opposite ends of the studio, so he sort of had to “scream” the song a bit to reach the mic. However he did it, the result can’t be argued with.

Microphones weren’t moved but rather there was a series of microphones that were “gated” so the louder he sang the further away microphones would kick in, so as he was practically screaming his vocals they were being recorded by the most distant mikes that were set up in like a hallway or stairwell I believe. Created that cavernous ragged sound.

I cannot explain just how much this song means to me. From the first time I heard it as a kid at the ending of Regular Show, till today where I've heard it countless times life has changed so much. Yet whenever I hear it I always feel the same emotions. I feel accepted and as if I were in a bitter-sweet movie ending. Whenever I'm sad I listen to this song and it always brings me to tears but eventually calms me down. This is a great song and I will never stop listening to it. It almost feels as though I can't even listen to it regularly since it's special and I'll probably listen to it too much.

This song has become an anthem for so many people and all from different eras. The old heads were full on head banging jamming to this in the 70s when it came out and I bet that they were doing it going well into the 80s. The late 90s and early 00s had guys discovering Bowie for the first time and this song specifically, also when Rolling Stone hailed it as one of the 50 greatest songs of all time. And for guys like me growing up in the late 2000s to 2010s? Well we had many choices with this song but I’m willing to bet none will ever stick with us for our whole lifetime quite like how Regular Show did it with this classic.

This is one of those songs you play whenever you feel alone, whenever you're on a road trip and everyone is asleep in the back except for you, when you realize things are ending, things are going to be ok, things may not be ok, when you're in a calm mood, when your in an energetic mood when it's late at night and you're still awake, when you're at a sleep over and you're the first to wake up and can't go back to sleep, when you did something good in life, something that you feel proud of, that your relieved you did, when you're scared, when you're sad, when you're happy. Play this song. You can be a hero. Just for one day. Edit: damn bro I made this comment a year ago and I never expected it to get to almost a thousand likes. Thank y’all so much.

How lucky were we to have lived on the same planet at the same time as David Bowie? Doesn't matter how young or old we are, to have missed out on his music would have been gut wrenching...

What's even more gut wrenching is the lies he and Mick Jagger perpetuated on all of you in the name of art. David Bowie and Mick Jaggers friends were ruthless junkies, underage prostitute slamming speed bangers. They scraped up lyrics from every starving artist they could get their filthy hands on... And then discredited anyone who confronted them with the consequences of their actions.. While their supermodels and friends wined and dined in luxury apartments and limousines.

I mean no, it wouldn't be gut wrenching. Only way to miss his music is to live and die before him. If that happened, you would have no idea what you're missing. It's the same as idk what artist I'll be missing when 2177 hits because I can't even fathom what music will be like then.

i remember my dad turning on the radio on the way home after visiting my sisters after they moved out, as the youngest of 5 siblings it was like a movie, they were the last siblings that lived with me, the oldest left when i was 9, my other brother left when i was 11, my sisters left when i was 13, hearing this song was so epic, it was like somehow the world was telling me some like "its been a long way and its just the start, but you shall now travel alone trough the dark waters of puberty" or some poetic crap like that, this song is special to me, the moment i started living alone with my parents was the moment i started truly living

Fue esta cancion la que me hizo pensar que los artistas, especialmente Bowie, no solo lo interpretan, tambien lo viven, viven sus canciones, su arte

Had my first mushroom trip with my girlfriend. We got hungry, and went to the kitchen to make some sandwiches, and I put this song on. We danced, and cried, and it was such a beautiful moment. And I have no doubt in my mind in that moment, our souls touched, and she is my soul mate. Thank you David Bowie.

I listened to this song 9 years ago before going to School to pass my SATS (french ones: I was in a French Lycée), and now I am listening to it while I am a mother, cooking, and a successful author, writing, while my baby sleeps. Heroes: That is a Fact.
