I think I finally understood why they had chosen this song because it's about two lovers being apart and Charlie's friends all graduated from school and have to go separate ways now. Charlie's friends move to college or move out and charlie still has to go to school but it shows that nothing lasts forever and that their friendship was temporary as well as his first love. But that's what makes it so beautiful and his feeling of being "infinite" is cause his bonds are so close with them that it feels like they are forever together.. but that's just the feeling in a moment.. he actually knows that he probably won't see them again cause they all grow old But the moments they've shared will be forever in his memories

I saw this movie tonight..I so fell in love with the dynamics with in the Trio Sam, Charles and Patrick. loved the genuin high school feeling. It was probably because this was before it was easy to figure out what the song was. Their parents probably didn’t listen to David Bowie (like mine) and so they had nothing to go on to find the song other than what they heard. I once spent YEARS trying to figure out what a song was before I had access to all of this technology. These days you can just google it or use Shazam to figure out what song you’re listening to.
