I was just thinking today about how revolutionary and outstanding John I'm Only Dancing is - 1972 - its a freaking queer masterpiece - its so engrained in Bowie fans psyche that we sometimes lose a little bit of the immediacy of the song - its groundbreaking - it doesn't get the kudos it deserves as a queen rock milestone.
@jonathanstiles72217 ай бұрын
It’s not a queer song. Bowie was straight. John has a crush on the girl Bowie is dancing with.

I don't do rock n roll but I know it has influenced my music and if only I was living in their diaspora with reggae artist like bob Marley and chronix touching the hearts of many my music would of been far gone because it's full of relatetable substance pertaining to the reality of life... Then to producers out there are more about seeing the dream come thru together with the artist they make music because they love it and not just for the money just like Chris Rockwell did with bob... Wish I had that kinda people working with me... But some talent just has to go to waste I guess 😢

Bowie? Reincarnated? Somehow. Back from the 'ol grave? No way, man.
It's revisionism, nowt to do with Bowie. I've cancelled my pre-order. Av lost interest big time.
@azorbz92867 ай бұрын
It's 4 discs of pretty much untouched original David recordings (demos, outtakes, live recordings), and one disc of alternative mixes or outtakes, 10 of which are either just different versions which David made already with no alterations other than being cleaned up by the original producer. That's not revisionism; it's preservation.

You can stream it online before deciding to purchase. I’ll never understand why anybody would buy something when they’re not sure if they like the material yet

There is nowt on it,, I have the vast majority on boot's un-messed with. I bought Divine Symmetry Hunky Dory being my favourite era but have barely touched it. I play my boot's now and then especially the live one's but I really couldn't be arsed with all this over priced few new genuine tracks with a shed load of revised tat tagged on. Plus at this pace by the time they get to the Outside era I'll be long long gone.
@Wishful-Thinking6 ай бұрын
@@GeorgeSpiggot Then don’t buy it. Like you I have most of this stuff on bootlegs but guess what! I enjoy buying a nicely produced box set like this in a world of sterile downloading especially when it comes to the music artist I’ve admired the most for 50 years. It really makes me laugh / annoy me when people like you whinge about things like this just because you don’t seem to agree with it. Bugger off and enjoy your bootlegs etc whilst I enjoy owning this. Or here’s an idea, sell your bootlegs to justify buying this and save some storage space in your place of residence.
@GeorgeSpiggot6 ай бұрын
@@Wishful-Thinking Ken Scott has remixed much of it, not cool. I can now confirm that I have everything except five tracks and much of it in better quality than what is in the boxset. People like me? The very reason I will never share my holy grails whilst I breathe. I'm happy hope your happy too.
