Even though he was a superstar, there was something about him that seemed so approachable. Like he would be so happy to sit and have a conversation with you if he had the time. This is His bassist, Gail Ann Dorsey's song she wrote and sang about, and for, her Friend, David. Boy, just to be part of his band, much less, his inner circle. So brilliant. So missed. I'm glad he had a few years of just being a husband and dad. Why is this taking his fan's so long to work through our grief of his passing? He is a genius, and so very missed, forever.

Kimberly OShea I think we we all mourn for the loss of our beloved David Bowie. I can't think of him in the past tense as he's been and will continue to be a major influence in my life for over 40 years. David's always with me in my heart and soul. (there is no time limit for grieving)

You got that right. I’m still mourning losing him. It won’t sink in. I feel like that teenage girl I was when I joined The Official David Bowie Fan Club back in 1972ish. It still have my membership card, and lots and lots and lots clipping from whatever publication had his picture. One cool one is Bowie on the cover People which just started out pointing out a story about introducing this new British Phenomena coming to America. I can’t believe I saved all of it, well it was still in with my stuff from the home I grew up in and now we have to prepare to sell the house. It was like discovering a treasure. I’m getting magazine cover mounted and framed.

At least he lived a good life and had everything he wanted. I miss him so much but i'm proud of him. He did amazing and taught us that it's okay to screw up and that it takes awhile sometimes and that you can do it. I'm really gonna miss him but until I meet you one day, I'll be waiting.

Thank you for this! His smile has always made me smile. His whole face lights up and those dimples! As a side note: I had an awful abusive BF when I was 18 who used to say I had jowls. I have the exact facial bone structure as David Bowie (My big round eyes & high forehead make me not look like him - he was 24-25 when he did "Ziggy" character, if you take a pic of me at that age, place it over his except for mainly my eyes I'm a doppelgänger, I thought he was the most beautiful human but thought I was ugly, crazy what we do to ourselves!) & if you look at his face when not smiling he has them too. That asshole saw my dimples when not smiling and called them jowls like a person with a fat face would have, I'm tiny (kid-sized!) and very petite, finely boned, at the time weighed maybe 80-85 lbs (36 ¼- 38 ½ kg.), 40 years later maybe 5-10 lbs more. It's what people with dimples and petite bone structure all have! Such an asshole always belittling and tearing away any shred of self-esteem I had. So glad I wiped him out of my life, can you believe I almost married him? Sometimes we can be so naive when young... Thank you again for cheering me up, I've loved him since I heard The Man Who Sold the World album when it first came out, I was 10 or 11! He'll always be in my heart as my first rockstar crush with an amazing voice and his peacock beauty!⚡️Jet PS sorry such a long comment, I'm a professional, published author/ writer & we often tend to babble!

I'm terrified of stadium general admission shows, was nearly crushed (started fainting) at one some time in the late 70s, so stay away. Was a wee bit too young to see him during the Ziggy tour, but got my dream in the late 80s when he formed Tin Machine, did an unannounced, rehearsal in a small club! You're lucky to have seen him, cherish that memory! I'm friends with one of his longtime musicians/ collaborators & Bowie & I have crossed paths so many times it's not funny - wasn't meant to meet the man who's been such an inspiration to me. I saw David 31 times (in concert, on TV shows). I saw him in very small rooms, stadium, TV shows ... I even had the chance to meet him unexpectedly one morning on the beach. The most beautiful memory of my "musical" life, with his concert at the Olympia! Each show was a new pleasure, a new discovery! It marked my life forever and I measure every day the chance to have seen it in concert ... So beautiful, so creative, so smiling, so radiant ....

ZiggyMode I've been to every tour (sometimes in several different States 😊) and was lucky enough to to have had second row seats for The Elephant Man (moved to a front row seat when the moron didn't show up). He sings differently from concert to concert, but I preferred the small venues rather than the huge arenas, the acoustics are so much better and more intimate as he jokes with the audience

Great song. Its funny because in the period when Bowie is with Iman I think we see the real David Bowie (or Jones) and in all the earlier photos he looks a bit like a person who is just dressing up, fooling around, and not quite himself. At the time that he wore these disguises we may have thought it was the real David Bowie, but it wasn't. I read somewhere that when he was young he said he wanted to be an entertainer like Tommy Steele. In his later years I think he is most like Tommy Steele, someone who just looks as though he is enjoying singing, trying to entertain an audience, and has a big smile without pretension.
