After seeing Bowie over 35 times in concert over the years....every show was always beyond amazing....What a great voice...great performer....no matter what 'stage' he was in, amazing!

Godness, I was at this very show. Will never forget how he came down from the ceiling of the stage, slowly from the left side. What a mindblowing night that was. Bless you David!
@karimamilena6 жыл бұрын
I might want to add some things for the history books. This show took place in summer 1987. The wall between East and West Germany was still there. Originally said to be there as an "anti-imperialist/anti-capitistic security wall". It was stupid from the beginning. Without going into too many details: On that night people at the east side wanted to listen to David Bowie. They tried to get as close to the german / german border (!) as possible. There was police on the east Berlin side. There was some riot. It was beautiful on the western side of the wall and (don't know which word to use) bad on the eastern side. Luckily, not short afterwards, crumbling of the german wall started. Think very carefully about a wall in the US.

Saw this show a few times, amazing! I don't go to many concerts much anymore because after seeing Bowie so many times over the years he raised the bar so high that everyone seems like an opening act in comparison.

Magnificent . The first time I saw Bowie live was Glass Spider Tour at Roker Park Sunderland when I was 20. It blew me away ands this clip captures the sound of the tour perfectly. I have seen the Man on Tin Machine tour, Sound and Vison and Reality Tour twice since then. Always will be proud to be a Bowie fan . The best.

@@joseramonperez5756 I think Carlos was gracious enough to let Peter Frampton enjoy his musical reinvention moment. Frampton and Bowie went to school together, This tour pretty much saved Frampton as a musician.

I see that some commenters are criticizing some aspects of this video, be it the vocals, the guitar sound, etc. This is a Sound Check, not a performance. People need to realize that performing outside is different and more challenging from a technical standpoint than playing inside a theater or arena. In particular, getting the proper sound on the monitors; if the person can't hear themselves properly while singing, there's a good chance the accuracy is going to suffer. This video is from 1987 and the gear back then is obviously not as advanced as it is now.
@tun3tym38 жыл бұрын
Arena sound sucks. I'll take outdoor any day of the week than a high RT time in an arena.

Still man, at this point I appreciate the video person and the uploader that made this happen. And this sound check is awesome even with Carlos vox on top. C'mon man, we r all critics with opinions.

Right on the money!Soundchecks are not a gig period!Thats a time when you can goof around a bit and make sure everyone whos playing can hear themself properly and this was before inears so it will take a little longer to get everything sorted out.

paddy9i99 Let me remind you this is a souncheck not a gig!Soundcheck means that they are adjusting the levels of the intruments,vocals etc trough the monitors so they can hear themselfs properly and when that was all done i can bet a million bucks that the backing voc and everything else sounded perfect when the show began and thats all that matters not a"silly"soundcheck.And soundchecks is also a time when you can goof around a bit and have a laugh.
