Here , in the third part of this series, I rank David Bowie's singles from 1991 to 2015. I've decided not to include any of his posthumous releases.

HI Ya Richard, well of course, what a brilliant countdown. I would find it so difficult to rank Bowie's Singles, but watching this I think you nailed it. Cheers Richard.

Thanks Richard you've got me listening to Bowie songs outside my normal window of just pre-80s. Take care Dale

HEY RICHARD!! I have a lot to catch up on in the vc over Christmas break, but I'm so glad to see your friendly face again!! I like your focus on this particular span in Bowie's music career, it's a part of his music career that seems to be overlooked at times. Hours is one of my favorite albums from the 90's and I was glad to see your incorporation and placement of the songs from it! I can not agree with you more on how high up you put those Blackstar singles. Beautiful!! Stay safe out there, Richard.

Hi Jenna, wonderful to hear from you again. I hope all is going well in uni land. I think Bowie got a lot of credibility back from the 90's onwards. I do like his "megastar" 80's pop years although his "cool" factor had gone down a notch or two. When you get back for your Easter break, take a look as there may be a Roy Wood / Wizzard singles video made sometime in the New Year. Have a wonderful Christmas, Jenna.

Nice countdown. I also have a coloured vinyl of Stranger when we meet. I recommend the flipside The Man who sold the world in a kind of live remixed version. Very good! Keep on the good work. You knowledge of popmusic is amazing. Greeting from Holland

Thanks for the kind words. I should have mentioned The Man Who Sold The World as it was technically a double A side with Strangers When We Meet. I like it but it's not a patch on the original. It's almost like a completely different song

Hey Richard, Good to catch up with you....and fittingly on your favorite. :-) Most of these I haven't heard though you're reminding me I need upgrade 'Outside' as my old copy somehow got ruined. I like 'The Next Day' more than I ever thought I would. Lovely final piece you showed. Thanks for sharing and all the best your way. -Carm

Thanks Carm. Outside was an album that took me so long to appreciate. I think one of the problems was that it was so long therefore too much to digest at the time. Now I think it is that or Hours as his best 90s album.

Hi Richard. Last year I listened quite extensively to most of Bowie's 90's-and-beyond output. There are definitely some cracking songs from that period but I had no idea which of them were singles. I really rate Dead Man Walking. I still haven't heard his last two albums!!
@CookieMusic433 жыл бұрын
Both The Next Day and Black Star are excellent albums. You should treat yourself, James.

Not an easy era to rank for singles. Thanks for this. I will look back at these myself. I do think it is his best run of albums since the 1970s.

..Buddha of Suburbia album is so neglected. One of his best in the later years.

He was definitely more diverse in the 90s, my favourites being 1. Outside & Hours. I've always said that Earthling has a batch of very good songs ruined by the clutter of Drum 'n Bass, so it would be my least favourite of all his albums. Some fans really love it but as I'm not a fan of Drum 'n Bass..., well something has to come last.

Nice one Richard. I was thinking the other day if Bowie was a religion there would be different factions and it would cause problems. Maybe that's just my twisted mind. Your collection is extraordinary.

I was at a vinyl night and someone played your no.5 love is lost remix and we all got up and started dancing. Very infectious so much so I ended up getting it. I still find it odd the statue where I live but I suppose most Bowie fans would be very jealous?
@CookieMusic433 жыл бұрын
Have you heard the original version of Love Is Lost, Martin? It's good but the remix is just soooo good! I'm sure many fans would be jealous having the statue nearby you although I'm not a big plaque or statue fan
@Thevinylscavenger3 жыл бұрын
I think it would get the non-dancers up out of their chairs whether inebriated or sober. Yeah, statues, I'm not particularly big on them either, we also have a tenuous other link in that Ronnie Barker sits outside the theatre on a bench here.

One of his lesser albums for me but a poorish Bowie album is still really good, but as I said, the single has really grown on me

Nowhere near as much as a few other VC members, most notably my friend John Kirwan from Dublin. He makes my collection look a bit limp lol

I was sure Slow Burn was the first single released from the album Heathen in ther UK. Then while researching i read somewhere that it wasn't. Confused, i dug a little further and found that it was in the official UK charts top 100 for 1 week. www.officialcharts.com/search/singles/slow-burn/

Agreed, I said it was the highlight from the album but should have said 2nd highlight as Goodbye Mr Ed is the best song
@tinmachine6933 жыл бұрын
Good bye mister Ed is a classic. Anyone who can incorporate Jewish mythology, American Indians, Breugel, Greek mythology, the Sex pistols and a talking horse! In one song deserves a medal 🥉.
