I love how you get progressively more sauced as the night wears on. It's like watching my wife work it's a beautiful thing. Sweet old saw dude.

Dad bought one of those for his first ever chain saw, back in about 1958. The salesman at Sears and Roebuck, gave us boys a brand new all leather football when we picked it up.(the football is long gone and rotted away I'm sure) One of my brothers picked another one up somewhere at a sale about 30 years ago. Both have been stashed away in Dad's old barn for decades. Think I better get them out and make one run. I'll just need a jib crane on the back of my truck to lift it, and swing it out over the log. 😎😎

Those old saws give you an appreciation of how hard the guys running it worked. They seem to weigh a ton and a half after just a few hours use. Great video. Appreciate the share. 😉

Thanks man, they sure do!

A few minutes for me! But when they were made, ALL chainsaws were big and heavy.

I love the mindset of people not wanting to fix things .yesterday I found a riding mower , push mower and a 3 ton floor jack on the curb. So if people kept fixing things I wouldn’t be makin money

Enjoyed your video and that you didn’t fully restore the saw and kept it original.

Thanks for watching! Sometimes worn originality is better than any restoration.

I have a few DB gear drives. I try to keep one running. At least I have lots of parts. I don't take them cutting wood unless I can back right up to the pile and pull them off the tailgate and place them directly on the wood. They do cut !

Fantastic!! I have 3 of those D.B. boat anchors in desperate need of attention.. I'm sure you're up to it but it would take the duese & a half to transport em. Cool vijayo.. My wife wanted to know why I was giggling like a school girl while watching my phone and sharpening my axe. I claimed for-play and I'm gonna stick with that.. Cheers.. K

I’ve got the same damn saw but a bigger bar! If I remember correctly there’s a video of it on my channel but I got distracted halfway through the rebuild... maybe I should start again

Finding these big ol bastards is difficult in the south, my daddy’s been using shitty 34 and 42cc poulans n splitting mauls to cut trees that are 4-5ft in diameter for years now and it’s almost painful to watch, and when he did get a new saw he got the smallest offering stihl had. I’ve been wanting to rebuild one of these monsters for him for... well since I was 12 and I’m almost done with tech school now. hoping someday I’ll find one for 40-50$ someday.

Finding a 1/2 chain for a fairly good price and in good condition is pretty hard I have a 1953 Clinton r55 g1 and it uses 1/2 inch chain
@toocheaptosmoke11 ай бұрын
Good to know, will have to grab 1/2" chains if they come up.

Who carries parts for these?
@toocheaptosmoke3 жыл бұрын
Really depends on what you need, carb and some other more "generic" engine parts can likely be sourced with some measuring and cross referencing.
