After David Byron collapse in Marque (1980) there is barely any recording, information about his life up to his tragic death. There are some rumors that Box and Bolder have approached him to rejoin him after Ken Hensley's departure. Byron declined. He could have fit easily to the more pop oriented metal of Aboninog. He is my favorite singer and even some months before his death his singing is legendary.

I totally agree. His decline (financially and commercially speaking; not artistically!) after his departure from Heep and the associated problems are among the biggest rock tragedies. Gerry Bron (their manager) should have managed to keep them together. From 1980 onwards, one cannot find but a couple of things about him (health deterioration, divorce, selling his mansion in Reading. Several years ago there was a book (Born to Perform) but it is out of print.

Byron is one of the great voices of Rock, is certainly among the top ten. Too bad that his death was so sudden, he needs it! Greetings from Brazil.

@Harold de Mure Nice comment, thanks! What a treasure must be to have read this book. Definitely a Holy Grail for Byron's fans, but unfortunately out of print for a long time now (I think there were only 500 copies produced...).

Yes, he was asked to rejoin, but I believe that was before his death.

If your talking about this song, you gotta be kidding! My gawd!!! If you're talking about in general, you can't compare apples with oranges. They're both great, but totally different. It's almost like, "Who's better... John Bonham, or Minnesota Fats?"

That's debatable. Both awesome singers in their individual ways. A different take by Byron but no one could replace Jim on the vocals.
