Bought this album in 77 and played it to destruction, good job I taped it too! Haven't seen any footage of the band until tonight. Criminally under-rated band, they should have been huge. Many thanks elcarita, you have made a 70s rock fan very, very happy.

Geoff Brighton on drums, Clem Clemson from Humble Pure on guitar, Willie Bath on bass. David was a great front man and had a great voice. David use to cut demos with Elton John way back when. Had the drinking not got the better of him UH, Ken Hensley, Mick Box, Lee Kerslake ( also original drummer for Ozzie on Diary of a madman) Trevor Bolder ( Spiders from Mars , David Bowie's band) as well as John Wetton ( Asia, King Crimson). And the rest of UH past and present should have done much better. The line ups from 72-77 were pretty tight but with the term oil and setbacks ( Byron, Gary Thin also a great bassist) gave them too many setbacks. Like King Crimson so many great artists and in a good circle. Ever noticed the close interwoven circle the British bands have. Yes, King Crimson, U Heep, ELP, Asia, .... when one left one of the other members playing with someone else in another band. Rough Diamond was on their way such a blueish and somewhat jazz type. Some really good tracks, not a bad one on the LP. Little hard to fit it in a genre for that period. Kind of reminds me of Charlie around that time ( songs like Johnny Hold Back, LPs like Lines, No Second Chance).

David Byron has always impressed me with the quality of his voice timbre and his singing, with the jazzy influences he inherited from his mother. Uriah Heep lost a lot with Byron's departure from the band, and so did he. Too bad we left so early.

I can feel you standing near me I can smell your sweet perfume Driftin' slowly, driftin' slowly 'cross the room I would love to come and meet you But each time I try to move I get so scared I ain't never seen a woman Who has filled me with such fear Other voices turn to echoes But yours is clear To just say hello should be so easy But each time I try to move I get so scared, ooh, I get so scared No, I ain't never met a woman Who has filled me, filled me, filled me with such fear Other voices they all turn to echoes But yours is clear To just say hello should be so easy But each time I try to move I get so scared, yeah, yeah I get so scared, yeah, yeah I get so scared, yeah I get so scared

Had a drink with him at the bar of their hotel after a Heep show in Nashville in September of 1973. We talked music for a few minutes. Really nice guy. The music that version of the band made will out live us all. It's criminal that they aren't in the RocknRoll Hall of Fame.

I guess you are American. I never understand this obsession with the R&R HoF, as if presence in (or absence from) is in any way a measure of an artiste's talent. Jann Wenner decides who gets in, based solely upon who he thinks will attract ticket sales. Given it is a financial venture set up by himself, that is exactly how it should be. But do not inflate it's importance.

@@herbertvonzinderneuf8547 Guess I'm an American? What gave it away... the reference to Nashville? As for the RocknRoll Hall of Fame, it started out as a noble venture. These days.... not so much. Besides, The core version of Uriah Heep doesn't exist anymore so it is a moot point. The Byron era Heep was a great band.

Interesting - here he had a better voice than 1976 when HEEP did their ‚High&Mighty‘ tour…. Sad end for David Byron - just very few at his funeral (e.g. John Wetton) R.I.P. Mr. Byron - one of the best rock-entertainer and singer of the 70s !
