I was fortunate enough to see David in Blood Brothers when he did the U S. national tour. I had been a fan of his as a teen and a friend of mine who had seen David and his brother Shawn in it when they were on Broadway said "Oh, this play was so great. If it comes to CT, you have to see it." Well, it did and I secured a ticket and I was mesmerized by this play and by David's performance in it. He was absolutely phenomenal as Mickey. To date, his performance is probably one of my most favorite performances in a play ever. His ability to play a boy of 7 up until a young many in his twenties was so believable and so heartwrenchingly real. I was moved by this play that I left the theater with tears stiil streaming down my face. It takes a special talent to be able to move someone this much and David had that in abundance. It's heartbreaking how David's life ended, but he did matter and he brought joy to many. He truly is missed.

David was good in this play. Even my husband, whom I have to drag to anything Cassidy was impressed by the entire production. We saw Blood Brothers at Tampa Bay's Performing Art's Center in 1995. Fully pregnant I fell into his limo while getting his autograph on the Playbill. He noticed and smiled. I said something silly like "I didn't know you could do something that good". His interview was well thought out and sincere. It was like the young David of the 70's.

It's really evident in this interview that David Cassidy hailed from stage actor parents. He understands that craft totally. Both his parents Jack Cassidy and Evelyn Ward were Broadway stars. I think Jack may not have found his professional home later, in the Hollywood film industry, as he had hoped he would but still a great actor. And of course David's stepmother the amazing Shirley Jones was and still is a gorgeous film icon. Highly talented American showbiz family. Always loved David and his personal shy persona. He was my hearthrob in the 70s. He is such a loss to us all. RIP David. Thanks so much for posting this wonderful interview of a highly intelligent man. Also qudos to the interviewer. Very respectful with no egomania. ☺💖

Wow, Mr. Baker. Kudos to you for a spectacular interview. Very Dick Cavett-esque. I think David Cassidy is one of the most underrated artists/entertainers of all time. A truly wonderful, grounded, caring, talented, intelligent intellectual human being. A great sense of humor too. (I think he got that from his dad... Good thing he didn't inherit the arrogance too.) Talk show interviews have lost their intimacy these days; which robs us from seeing or discovering the true person inside the artist. Your interview was spot on. You captured that. You captured his true essence in your interview, Thank you for helping show more people... David Cassidy.

I feel like David Cassidy wound up in a way a lot like his father Jack Cassidy. Jack was unsatisfied with his success on Broadway in plays. All he wanted was a Hollywood career in the big movies. David Cassidy had enormous unprecedented success as a pop music star with a bigger fan club than Elvis or The Beatles. It turns out he wasn't even satisfied with that. All he wanted to be was a dramatic actor on Broadway. The irony hasn't gotten past me. I wonder if he ever realized that himself. Juxtaposition of life.
