Debra I've loved him since the 70's. I finally saw him live in the early 2000's. You're right he was such a wonderful entertainer, so talented and still full of charm. My husband escorted me to the show. At last I had my 2 favorite men in the same room with me.

His version of Cherish sounded much better than the one done by The Association. He was not only gorgeous and talented with a great voice but was also a good person. From what I’ve read about him, he spent his life looking for true love. Even after 3 marriages it still eluded him. I’m glad we can still watch him now on video and reminisce about him and the past, which for so many of us were happier times. Rest in peace David. Thank you for bringing so much happiness to my generation. I will always keep a special place in my heart for you. In loving memory of David Cassidy.

It is a waltz. 4/4 time. I still dance ballet and my husband and I waltz around the house to this incredible love song. It is fun and romantic. I believe with all of my heart and soul that dancers are the happiest people. And music is a blessing.

I had a little DIY business for greeting cards. In 2003 all my card covers were animated. One card i illustrated was of a disturbingly handsome angel. It was basically a picture, my cartoon drawing of David circa 1972 dressed like a beautiful angel. I captured his likeness down to his eyes and smile. It didn't sell well next to the others. I GUESS no one wanted a sexy androgynous looking man as the perfect angel on the cover. Now that he's dead i keep wondering what if i had sent it. He'd either would have giggled to see himself animated. Or he would laughed at me in a bad way saying"get a load of this."

My mom took me to see him when I very little which I think was my first real concert. It would have been 1972 so the same year as this. I don't remember most of it, but I remember the little white go-go boots she bought for me to wear and screaming at the top of my lungs. My mom said when he asked for a young lady to join him on stage, I was sad he didn't pick me. Of course, he meant a teenager, not some 5-6 year old kid! Seeing this is a nice picture of what it was like since I really don't remember much beyond a few fleeting memories.

I LOVE THIS!!!!! I was at this concert in Greensboro, NC. He wasn’t wearing his white jumpsuit with the fringe because it had been stolen, so he had to wear these jeans which were fitting him quite well!! I still live in Greensboro so coming across this on KZbin was amazing!!! Don’t know who got this footage but thanks so very much for posting!!!!

No wonder his pants have so many patches. They are so tight that I would think any movement at all would cause a rip. I really don't know how he moved in them at all.

I’ve only seen one other singer who puts 100% into every song like David did-his voice, facial expressions and body- dancing around and really working it every second and having fun while also including the audience…and that is Billie Jo Armstrong! I know it because I saw Green Day in person, up close, give a 4 hour concert! Billie Jo was so wiped out in the middle he sang a couple of songs lying down! I’m sure David did stuff like that on tour, but it’s lost to time now. IMHO, David needed better management. At age 24 he should have gone into acting on the stage-he would have been a perfect Romeo on stage after Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey brought so much attention to Shakespeare with the movie. I would have loved to see him do many musicals on Broadway! Why wasn’t he in Cats or Rent or a revival of The Music Man or Chicago, Les Miserables or a drama like Hamlet (don’t laugh- he was the right age for it. Seeing geriatric Hamlets like Laurence Olivier is almost painful as the character is actually 21 or so). Maybe light drama like The Importance of Being Earnest? Or something risqué like Rocky Horror? I feel like his management needed to change and then fight for him. Why wasn’t he given guest starring TV roles like he did in the beginning of his acting career but playing an adult instead of a kid? He was so naturally funny, a good dramatic actor and great singer. Why was he neglected? Why some people get EGOTs and others don’t is a mystery to me. He definitely was qualified to get awards. But! he had the adulation of young girls like me. Millions of girls listened to his age appropriate pop music. (Thank goodness Marilyn Manson wasn’t around when I was young!) I’m so glad David made peace early on in his twenties with his past teen idol status. It really was a great thing to be; it seems attending one of his performance was a rite of passage, almost like a pre-feminism experience prior to feminist college protesting. It certainly demonstrated the power of a young girls pocketbook! And young girls needed to listen to good music aimed at their demographic just as much as boys did. Donny Osmond, Michael Jackson and others filled a very necessary role in this world. Because of Disney, Broadway and pop albums I grew up to like all kinds of music because I was started on and was exposed to pop music early on. However, David had so much potential to do so much more. I blame not only his management but the media, like some of his fans, who only wanted him to be David Cassidy, teen heartthrob. Even looking back and knowing how talented he was, he never felt good enough, unfortunately turning to alcohol in the end. I’m so glad he did Blood Brothers. The video clips of him in it are amazing, demonstrating that he could really belt out a song as well as sing in his signature sexy-breathy style. Such a shame that the people around him didn’t encourage him more. I think that’s why some people followed his career so closely. They knew what he was capable of and wanted to see more, but the entertainment industry just rejected him outright. He had to fight so hard to just get the door cracked open again. It’s too bad. Everyone loves a big comeback.
