There is nothing like the incredible David Cassidy at the piano. He was so intense when he played the piano and sang. Again, the words to this song really fit what he was going through. I can’t believe Get It up For Love was banned and not even released in the US considering what was out there at the time. I mean, KC and the Sunshine Band’s That’s The Way I Like It Uh Huh, Uh Huh, probably wasn’t talking about what he liked on a pizza. A little trivia on Get It Up For Love, when DC did this song in ‘85 at the Royal Albert Hall, he sang the 2nd verse twice. When I was trying to put this video together, I realized he opened this song with the 2nd verse. As a pro that he was, he just went on like he meant to do it and nobody probably even cared or noticed. You just wonder on the inside if he was thinking oh sh*t?! Gotta love live performances where anything can happen. As a hairstylist for 38 years, an occupational hazard is when I watch tv or movies I analyze the hair the entire time. I even did that when I was in my teens watching PF now that I think about it. DC’s haircut, color and style was always pretty interesting. He had said at one time he was mostly gray by his mid 30’s. If you watch closely that last year of PF, he had a few grays, it wasn’t just sun bleach from being in Hawaii. Stress probably helped that gray along. I think besides trying to change his image that when he went blonde it was easier to blend that gray in than going dark. Betcha didn’t think I was gonna go in that direction with the description, did ya?! 😂

Hi Stacy, I recently saw a documentary on BB4 about Yacht Rock/West Coast Sound. They featured "Get It Up For Love," with Ned Doheny strumming a few bars on the guitar. Despite showing footage of other singers, David wasn't mentioned, which I found annoying, as it's the only version of Get It Up For Love I've heard. I've seen a clip of David in the 70s saying the song was banned because it was him singing it. As we know David cut across genres and did it extremely well. I liked his 80s haircut, with a little less blond, not so much the return to the 70s haircut in the late 90s, but loved the shorter cut around the time of Blood Brothers as it really showed of his handsome face. That is annoying that they didn’t show DC singing it. DC actually recorded that song before Ned Doheny did. It’s probably cuz it was banned in the UK and the album wasn’t officially released in the US. There’s not a lot of actual copies out there of that album. Nobody knew he did that song really. The return of his shag was in ‘90 for about a year then morphed into the mullet which he rocked. I liked him in longer hair as well as the short hair that I think started when he got the part in Blood Brothers. About ‘88-‘89 is when he started to grow out the blonde, which I liked better. The blonde really washed him out. He still was good looking just not as striking.

I got my next one half done. Hopefully I can get it done this week. My surgery went well but I struggle at night more with this one. So I’m doing a lot of day sleeping. UGH! I have to keeping looking at the bigger picture. It goes against my nature to be optimistic. Hahaha! My husband is building a lot of care credit for his knee replacement surgery next month. Looks like it’ll be a marriage counseling Christmas this year after all of this! YIKES! 😉

Fabulous video, David playing piano is awesome, I've seen the interview on the Russell Harty show but not David playing the piano. His iconic hairstyle was copied by many, but they never got it right, I think it was that short layering on the top that gave him the edge 💇‍♂️ beautiful 😍 obviously had a brilliant hairdresser. Thank you for hair information, I didn't know about the grey hair, but yes, down to stress probably. Adore him whatever his hair was ❤💘💝 xxx

The interview on the Russell Harty Show was a separate video that the song on KZbin. It probably was uploaded to KZbin before they got authorized for the longer than 15 min limit uploads. From what I understand the hairstylist that originally came up with that hairstyle was a studio hairstylist that needed to come up with a style that looked more consistent during filming. Before that if they had to redo a scene from another day his original hairstyle looked too different. Thus, the David Cassidy shag was born. Lol!

Thank you, this video has moved me so much. I love "Then I'll Be Someone" , such a shame that when his voice was just magical, he didn't do concerts , and RCA albums weren't successfull , think how more great songs we could have...As always info included , that's so important. Great pics and interviews. David's smile still so helps, makes the difference , just watching him sing or smile improves my day. You’re welcome! I’m having my 2nd hip replacement surgery next week so I’ll be having A LOT of butt time recovering to work on videos. For whatever reason working on these videos helps calm me down or distracts me from pain. Maybe that smile of his is some kind of painkiller?!

Graszka the first hip replacement surgery I had done last year feels great. So, I hope this one goes the same way. Thank the lord I only have 2 hips. It’s been a 2 1/2 year ordeal between the 2 bad hips. When I rediscovered DC after he died he’s been getting me through this ever since. Thanks for the kind words of support! ♥️

I like him better with the dark hair. I feel like the blonde washed him out a bit. But, when he was on Arsenio in ‘89 he looked pretty hot with his blonde hair I gotta say. I guess they couldn’t have DC specifically sing like that but like you say there was a whole bunch of songs that were way racier than that at the time. Bad Company’s I feel like making love to you, for example. Ya can’t get any blunter than that!
