Winning those wars contributed to the US becoming a superpower and the richest country on earth at the time at the forefront of science and quality of life. There are many more wars with victors like Japan comprehensively defeating the Russian empire before ww1 or Germany embarrassing France in the last war they fought before ww1. I could go on and on, such as Ceaser's conquests of Gaul, Rome defeating Carthage, contributing to it to become one of the strongest empires ever seen and many more. I don’t know if you get what he’s saying. Like yeah, sure. “We” won, but literally at what cost? I used to be all “hoorah” and wanted to be a marine since I was 12. Till I learned WHY we went to war with these countries. Why we invade, yeah sure, you steal and send a civilian airliner into one of the largest buildings in one of the largest countries (militarily), you’re gonna get fucked by said country. But the amount of loss, amount of death. The rapes, the mindless killing of civilians in their homes, just being obliterated by bombs made by Americans. Just like us, they had no part in that war. It. Is. Fucked. Go ahead. Make your comparisons. But just as Russia drops phosphorus on civilian homes, we dropped grenades in living rooms. At the end of the day, we are all fucking human. We are all living beings made out of the exact same shit. Minus all the processed American bullshit that we willingly poison ourselves with everyday. There’s no winning, you simply cannot win if you’re killing your own. Russian, American, Chinese. I don’t give a fuck where you’re from, unless you’re a threat to an active society, you’re the same as me. And at the end of the day, the end of our lives, we ALL go and face the same. exact. thing. Death And i dont know about you, but I’m not one to want to feel responsible for cutting someone’s journey in half while I continue on mine.

@sk8nchill522 жыл бұрын
@Mr. Melendez You’re making the notion that the people starting the wars are the ones that are always winning. This is not true. I would say the world as a whole profited when World War II was over and hitler was dead. What if we *just allowed him to continue his conquest? What if he won? War is not just about taking people’s land or stuff. It is about ending evil forces in the world. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of peace, I’m all for it. I live a very peaceful life myself. That all changes when someone brings war to you and wants nothing to do with peace.
@sk8nchill522 жыл бұрын
@Mr. Melendez haha I just don’t agree with the entirety of what he is saying. Does everyone lose SOMETHING in war? Yes. Do the winners come out losing less? Yes. Can countries recover after war? Of course. And some never recover. Some go away forever. Some wars sacrifice more than others. His statement is too generalized and it’s trying to say that everyone is loses and war isn’t necessary so just don’t do it. He’s right, as long as everyone agrees to peace. Peace might be “give me all your resources and we’ll remain peaceful.” In his example of us driving German cars now, imagine how many German cars we’d be driving if Germany won the war haha

Well the first and second Punic war are actually great examples of this statement, if you completely ignore his explanation. Rome was stuck in the first war for over 2 decades and really went far to keep rebuilding fleets in the first war, all for a few islands. In the second war they threw an insane amount of legions at Hannibal. They won those wars in the strategical sense, but it sure wasn't pretty.
@colterwebb63822 жыл бұрын
@@PeterJavi ya but that wasn't my mans point. My man said that no one actually wins a war. That the losers are actually the winners if cultural aspects are adopted by the winners. This like goods and products. Well sure the Romans did learn to sail because of the puni, but it's not like Roman became punic is culture or practice after that. Yes the wars were long and the bloody, but carthago no longer delendum est. And if the Romans chose not to remember it existed there is very little chance we would remember they existed either.
