This is the kind of music that always takes me back to my youth in the 80s. The big sweeping sound, the piano and saxophone, violins. Perfect. Makes my heart swell.
this theme is awesome it was also used for our news closing in Bowling Green KY of WBKO 13 from 1987/88-94 that when I was a kid of course : )

Love the epic sound of D. Foster. His productions are distinctive and melancholic. From the very first note he sets the tone. Instrumentals can be so timeless and Foster's been writing hits for decades, but to me his music is the sound of the 80's. So many memories.

I don't know if my last post worked, the artist who performed the sax in this is named David Boruff. David Foster used his talents on all his big 80's hits featuring sax, including the Love Theme from St. Elmo's Fire, and tapDance.

ABC used this during a Super Bowl XXII pregame segment on Super Bowl rings featuring former Packers receiver Bob Long (who gave those to his sons); Chicago Bears scout Jim Parmer (who lost it just after Super Bowl XX before a diver found it in a lake behind his house) and the sad story of former Steelers quarterback Joe Gilliam (pawned his rings for a drug habit, though it seemed he had beaten the habit at the time)

0:26 "The Minnesota Vikings almost let the playoffs slip away, but when the reprieve was issued, they took full advantage by whipping the New Orleans Saints indoors, thus earning a rainy-day outdoors in San Francisco. And with cold efficiency, the Vikings silenced those lethal 49er weapons and unleashed one of their own, as Anthony Carter's record-setting performance lifted them to a resounding victory. And now, after two stunning upsets, the Viking doubters are no more. Their next hurdle is the Washington Redskins, no strangers to the championship stage. They, too, played the underdog role to perfection last week by upending the Chicago Bears. The heroics were numerous, from Darrell Green's acrobatic but painful punt return, to a defense whose disposition was as sour as a grapefruit. The Redskins simply would not yield an inch, and as a result, for the fourth time this decade, they will battle for the NFC Championship. But lying in wait, are the spirited upstarts from the northlands, a confident bunch that overcame a transition in starting quarterbacks, much like the hometown Skins, and today, each team must confront stiff challenges. Can Minnesota's aerial attack exploit a hobbled all-pro cornerback? Can Washington's offensive line corral the Vikings' unrelenting pass rushers? These are some of the keys that could unlock the door to Super Bowl number twenty-two." -Pat Summerall's opening narration at the start of the broadcast of the 1987 NFC Championship Game

what gives his music flavor is the rich chords. Instead of say a straight chord in the key of C, instead along with adding a 2 or third, D and E for example , GIves the ear much more candy. Richard Carpenter and Burt Bacharach also used this. Its great flavor
