There is still a lot of water that have to pass under the bridge! A lot of work to do, especially to be in time with the backing track.

The Rat sounds better to me, that high end ringing clear tone is fantastic. I know they're both excellent pedals, of course.

I'd like use the Pro Co Rat to boost Big Muff for Gilmour tones

I started laughing when I heard the kids playing in the background. That sounds like half of my videos. You always hear kids screaming upstairs in mine. Or dogs barking.

something that you're missing, gilmour used the signal change like this guitar>rams head big muff>coloursound powerboost>(chorus/flanger which he sometimes adds)>hiwatt>MXR digital delay rack unit>yamaha rotating speaker/wem cabinet he put a booster after the big muff to add more mids, i always use the neck and middle pickup because i don't have the gilmour mod, I'm thinking of adding a push pull function to one of my tone knobs, anyway, this is how i get it at home strat>rams head nano big muff>Blammo voltage booster>fender bassbreaker 15>(effects loop send)>electric mistress>BOSS rt20>BOSS DD-8>strymon flint(reverb)>(effects loop return)>fender bassbreaker 15>fender bassbreaker 15 cabinet i don't have a hiwatt and a bassman is supposed to be close enough, and a bassbreaker is just a bassman with marshall distortion, which is pretty cool, i have the amp clean,
@DadRockKid3 жыл бұрын
Bang on signal chain. That’s the chain I personally use on the helix. The only difference for the enhanced miss there I use a dumble like amp. Great info, thanks man
@kyyowa1292 жыл бұрын
The powerboost is actually a rather mid-scooped pedal, I believe Gilmour just used it for a volume boost (powerboosts are insanely loud if you've never tried one) and a touch more gain. Most of the mids would come from the hiwatt, as they had huge amounts of them, just not the traditional marshall low mids.

@@kyyowa129 what i mean is that it smooths out the muff, should have made it more clear

Interesting!! I heard u saying that the 5th position on Gilmour's strat gives the neck + bridge tone.. so on a regular strat is it advisable to play on centre i.e 3rd position?
@DadRockKid3 жыл бұрын
Hi Anup, the best way to hit that close with a regular strat is the 2nd position I.e bridge and middle actually

You should get reasonably close as I have a zoom 50 g and remember tweak ing the hiwatt and nyc muff to get that sound...delay carbon delay and reverb of any type

.....not all fuzz pedals are the same.....you can buy two big muffs .....they will not sound the same ..fuzz pedals are hit or miss ....i think thats why David Gilmour rather use the Rat pedal live......because the sound of the Fuzz will change if the right power is not going into it .......the Fuzz is a picky pedal ......Jimi Hendrix would test hundreds of fuzz pedals before he would find one he liked .......i'm sure David Gilmour did the same thing ..
@DadRockKid3 жыл бұрын
Exactly on the point man! I think you nailed it...

That's more true of Fuzzfaces than Big Muffs. The reissued, cloned, and boutique Muffs are very consistent.
